Second book in the Accidental Mates series.

Shannon is abducted by the leaders of the shape-shifting dragons who have a plan to mate her with the Drelconian lords, even if they have to watch the process from start to finish. If one sexy candidate doesn’t work, then they’ll pass her to the next and the next or better yet, take her all in one night. But the leaders didn’t count on Shannon being able to connect mentally with the banished silver dragon leader, nor that he would risk life and limb to come for her. Ryuu will kill anyone who tries to harm Shannon or keep her from him, even if it’s his own brothers or the respected elders.

This is the story of a woman, the dragon she is bonded to and the revelation of a secret that the elders are willing to kill to keep.

Author Brenda Steele does a wonderful job of weaving these alien beings, shape-shifting Dragons, into our world. She also skillfully blends together a dramatic and colorful story with interesting twists and turns, complete with some delicious erotic scenes that leave the imagination reaching for a cigarette.

Well worded, well-written and with a good story flow so that my only complaint was this: the story was too short.

But I enjoyed it greatly and will definitely be looking for the next installment in the series.

Learning to trust someone enough to break down hard, fast limits is complicated- but fun!

Robert owns Nicole by mutual consent. She would do absolutely anything to please him- except for the one thing he really wants. His submissive's aversion to needles is worrisome in more ways than he cares to admit. Bringing others into the relationship proves to be only a temporary fix. Not even the love of his sweet submissive can break down the barrier that's come between them.

Trust and patience can only last so long... can he push this limit and force her to face her fear before it’s too late?

Robert's Story was unique in that it was told from the male point of view. It is something I don't read very often in good erotic romance stories. I must say that I enjoyed this approach. As I read, I could feel like I was getting into Robert's mind.

I feel I must warn the reader, this story is not for the squeamish or faint of heart. The piercing scenes remind me of when I young and we pierced our ears with ice cubes and needle, except they are not piercing ears in this story. It makes me wonder if the piercing that is done can really be accomplished as easily as it was done in the story.

Robert's overwhelming obsession of needles had me wondering about the extremes he would go to in order to reach his fulfillment. He was very sympathetic of his wife's fears and never pushed her to do more than what she was comfortable with doing. I was able to see throughout the book his acceptance of her fears and also with his questioning of his wife's wishes toward the end of the story.

I enjoyed the fact that Nicole loved her husband as much as she does. She shows her love in everything that she does for him and how she tries to make him happy any way she is able. I could see the lengths she goes to in order to try to overcome her fear of needles.

Robert's Story is a good story, given from an unusual perspective that I enjoyed reading. I hope to see more of this unique type of viewpoint in the future.

Erica Porter's new job might be her last. Kissing your married boss has a way of getting you fired. But the man under the mistletoe isn't who he seems and as their relationship grows, so do the secrets. How much longer will she have to pay for her mistletoe mistake?

Quentin Thorne has successfully avoided getting caught under the mistletoe for the bulk of his adult life without regret. However, his brother's new employee is about to change his views on Scandinavian legend.

When Erica Porter gets a new job, an encounter with a sexy stranger in the copy room quickly heats up as a simple kiss under the mistletoe gets steamy. Erica immediately regrets her impulsivity when she learns the identity of her mystery man, but he doesn’t quite feel the same. A case of mistaken identity and Erica’s desire to keep her personal life separate from work nearly ends her relationship with her mystery guy, Quentin Thorne, before it even has a chance to start. Quentin is not one to take advantage of employees, but he is taken with Erica and is determined to convince her to take a chance on him.

With its love-at-first-sight story, this fun read provides readers with a nice escape. Erica and Quentin are great characters whose easy relationship and flirtation I really enjoyed. The characters were very real and while I understood Erica’s fears and hesitancy about getting involved with her boss’s brother, at times I wanted to smack her because I was afraid she’d let a great guy get away. Quentin, a great hero and my favorite character of the story, is very patient and understanding about Erica’s need for discretion. In fact, he is more patient than most probably would be, but he truly cares for Erica and wants her to be happy.

I really enjoyed the humor and romance of this story and definitely recommend it!

The final chapter of the Pentacles of Magick series comes to an explosive end!

As a demon hunter, Noah has seen and done it all...until his twin sends him to rescue a woman he wanted to forget.

Noah Scott is a mercenary hell bent on ridding the world of evil, one demon at a time. He walked away from the family prophecy determined to do things his way. Until one woman had tempted him then left without a trace.

Jessie has spent her whole life hiding her darker side from those who would never accept her. When she met gorgeous Noah she knew he would be different and their passion ignited a connection neither of them understood.

Now they must face the past and their future in a race to save his family, while fighting a sexual desire threatening to destroy them both.

The Revealing is the fourth and final book in the Pentacles of Magick series. Each and every book of this series has been astounding.

In this book, I met Noah Scott, one of the four brothers affected by the family curse. As are the others, he is a powerful witch who must be very careful to use as little as his dark magick as possible. His life work is demon hunting, a job he takes seriously. His home is a beautiful log cabin, hidden in the swamps of New Orleans. Eliza Gayle did a wonderful job of bringing his home and that swamp to life for me.

Noah’s mate is Jessie, also a witch and, unknown to Noah, half demon. Jessie is a strong woman who has had a hard life, being so different from everyone, even her own kind, and having a very difficult time controlling her volatile demon magick.

The Revealing brings together all four brothers and their mates for an explosive battle to end their family curse. The connection and power shared between Noah and Jessie was different from the other brothers and their mates, but nonetheless powerful or intriguing.

If you are looking for a short, paranormal series that will keep you preoccupied and entertained, I highly recommend The Revealing and all the other books of the series.

It’s Christmas Eve and Nicollet Edenton is still trying to understand how she’d agreed to play the role of Santa’s helper; coerced into wearing a tight, velvet Santa’s helper outfit, she spent several hours handing out gifts to children in the nation’s largest department store. Things couldn’t get any worse, right? Wrong. Ready to escape, Nicollet realizes she has been locked inside of the department store with her sexy as sin coworker, Kaelyn Lionheart.

Kaelyn and Nicollet find they can no longer run away from the attraction they both fear. When the hunger burns out of control, will Nicollet be able to accept that the man she has fallen in love with is something more than a man?

The Firm: Rogue is a good story about Kaelyn Lionheart and Nicollet Edenton. The Lionhearts are shape-shifters who also own a law firm. Kaelyn is one of eight brothers. He plays Santa in a department store and Nicollet is his helper. Nicollet is a larger woman who is also a lawyer at Kaelyn's family's firm.

Kaelyn is portrayed as the perfect male. Tall, blue eyed, blond with a body that doesn't stop. I would enjoy being locked in a store with him for the holidays. But he also has a small problem. It was the night of his rebirth. Once every five years, Kaelyn could mate or he would change into a lion.

Nicollet, on the other hand, is a large black woman, brown eyes and midnight hair. She is ready to go on a month long vacation and being locked in with Kaelyn would upset the plans she made with her long time crush, Jamison.

I enjoyed the playful banter that Nicollet and Kaelyn share throughout the story. It had me laughing one moment and fanning myself the next. The scenes that took place in the department store were very creative. I relished their dinner and everything that followed on and with the table.

There is a story that Nicollet shares with Kaelyn regarding her childhood that foretells of her destined future and a few visions that the Lionheart family has that helped guide the story to its inevitable conclusion.

I had two problems with the story and both are personal. I didn't like that Kaelyn pulled a childish stunt and left for almost one year. If I knew my mate was the only one for you, I would do everything I could to convince them to accept me--not run away. The other is the editing. I do not know who Nicollet's long time crush is. Jamison or Jamisonson? Both spellings are used a minimum of three times each and by both main characters.

Aside from those small issues, I did enjoy Kaelyn and Nicollet's story in The Firm: Rogue. And with seven more brothers, I look forward to another tale about this fascinating family.

Happily married, Carl Jackson has a secret, one he's never had the courage to share with anyone, especially his wife. Fearful she'll leave him if she finds out, he locates a Lady via the internet, who is exactly what he's looking for. When his wife supposedly goes to visit her mother, he coaxes Lady Jasmine into seeing him.

Once the door opens, it's too late to back out.

As a Domme, I have to admit I loved this story. A happily married man wants to be dominated, but instead of opening up with his wife he turns to professional. The fact is, this is actually a more common happening than many would realize. Now the twist of the book is definitely more rare of an occurrence but one that I think would be a blast to experience first hand.

Filled with vivid descriptions of what can happen in a Domme/sub situation, and approached in a way that is fun to read and intriguing at the same time, Jude Mason has done a fantastic job with this glimpse into the world of Domination and submission. I will definitely be looking for more in this section of Phaze's catalog, as well as checking to see if Jude has given us any more fun tidbits to read as time goes on.

Christmas parties stink. Literally. Between the spices and sugar cookies -- not to mention the mistletoe and the co-workers doing illicit things in dark corners -- a werewolf with delicate senses has more than she can handle. Luckily Zoe has an advantage this year: a dirty-minded boyfriend with an invitation to the most exclusive holiday event in New York City: Christmas at Last Call.

Zoe always avoided holiday parties, until her boyfriend takes her to the hottest party in NYC.

Christmas Party is a steamy romp through the holidays. With vivid erotic scenes this short stands out as a truly delightful read for a cold winters night.

Short on plot and long on spicy details, Moira Rogers shows her talent for weaving words that bring the imagination to the brink.

I enjoyed this installment of the Gingersnaps series even though there was more steam than story. Hey, once in a while a simple romp is just what a girl needs ... right?

Luca has lived a long and sheltered life. Dubbed by many as “The Jersey Devil”, he resides peacefully and alone in the Barren Woods, where no one can find him. It’s a lonely exsistence, but necessary for one such as he.

Until photographer Chandra Burke comes along. After saving her life, Luca feels obligated to keep her with him until she heals. But as hours with her turn to days, and then weeks, he finds he wants to keep her for an entirely different reason—for him.

Can Chandra and Luca overcome Luca’s view of himself, a pesky wizard, and a possessive demon to be together? Or will the Fates allow love to slip past Luca once again?

In this Beauty-and-the-Beast-like tale, Luca, an outcast also known as The Jersey Devil by locals, saves photographer Chandra Burke from a serial killer and decides to keep her as she recovers. As her rescuer, Luca feels obligated to care for her, but fears that she will discover his secret as he takes her to his solitary home in the Barren Woods to recover. You see, with his extreme height, fur, claws, wings and more, Luca is not an ordinary individual, but a half-human/half-demon who was cursed in the womb.

Luca finds himself attracted to Chandra, but fearing her rejection he hides his true self by keeping her blindfolded. As Chandra recovers she begins to wonder about her mysterious rescuer and his reasons for keeping her blindfolded. As they both learn to trust one another, the unusual couple begins to fall for one another. But soon their budding relationship faces trouble in the form of the demon who cursed Luca to his lonely existence.

I was intrigued by this story from the very beginning and I longed to know more about these fascinating characters. Luca stole my heart with his insecurities and doubts. He was a perfect example of why people shouldn’t judge others based on their looks. As for Chandra, I found her very likeable and thought she was very accepting especially once she learned about Luca and his life. They made a lovely pair as both taught each other about love, trust, and acceptance.

I really enjoyed the author’s unique approach to a classic love story. This wasn’t an ordinary boy-meets-girl story as it featured a creature that some might find hard to love, yet the author was able to humanize the beast in the story and make me, the reader, fall for him as well despite what some might consider imperfections. I found the author’s use of an imperfect hero, at least when it comes to looks, refreshing and interesting.

This was a very touching love story that I would definitely recommend to those looking for something a bit different.

Pasts are best left behind, hidden deep in your memory—that is where I buried mine. The feel of his hands and mouth on my body, the height of sensuality I reached beneath his touch. I'd fought so hard to forget—how could just the sight of him bring it all back, forcing me to become lost in him? Again.

Years before I had watched him, craved him—a guitarist in a band riding the wave to stardom—my brother's best friend. On the verge of womanhood, I never dared to reveal how I yearned. Until a cold New Year's Eve when I offered myself as the woman I'd become, bringing to fruition the deepest of wants. As that night turned, so did my life. Devastatingly so. I never dreamed I'd become another of his one night stands.

Can pasts be exorcised if they come back to haunt you? And when a notorious playboy who broke your heart offers you his…how do you know if he's playing for keeps?

Emma had always idolized her brothers best friend, Christian. Ever since she was little she followed him around like a little puppy. At eighteen-years-old and no longer a little girl, she offered herself to Christian and he accepted. The next day, he was gone. Devastated, Emma vowed never again would she ever throw herself at him. To Emma, Christian was in her past--until one day, he shows up in her life once more. Can Emma and Christian let go of the past, live in the present and look forward to a future together?

Emma's character was intriguing, funny, and sensual. She tries so hard not be affected by Christian but his personality and sensuality is just too much for her to resist. Emma's attraction never faded for Christian because she could never stop thinking about the boy she loved, and who broke her heart. Faced with the present, she can't stop thinking of the man he has grown up to be and she still loves.

I adored these two characters and I was turning the pages just as fast as I could to find out what would happen with them next. The fact that they were together years earlier made it just that much sweeter when they made love. The chemistry that Emma and Christian share is amazing. The twist in the story towards the end was outstanding. I didn't see it coming. It couldn't have been more perfect.

Playing for Keeps was a highly engaging story that I got totally wrapped up in. I thought it was a refreshing change to see the story from both Emma and Christian's point of view. It brought it to another level. I felt myself able to see the story from more than just one direction. Devon Gray did a masterful job with Playing for Keeps. She had me intrigued from the first page through to the last. Her style of writing had me hooked and wondering why more authors didn't write like this. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting a refreshing change from just an average romance book. I look forward to reading more of her work. Devon Gray stepped out of the norm and produced an excellent piece of work.

When Jexx finds out the man she’s just had fantastic sex with is one of the legendary Imperial Were-Panthers, she’s impressed and flattered. But when she finds out he’s decided to claim her as his mate, she’s less than thrilled. She’s not in the market for a bossy male to order her around. When the spaceship the two of them are returning to Earth on suffers from technical problems, the two of them need to work together to overcome the problem and get home before the life support starts to falter.

In this quick futuristic read, Jexx is surprised to learn that Tome is an Imperial were-panther, a breed long thought to be extinct. Tome has decided to claim Jexx as his bondmate despite her reluctance and intends to use the journey to Earth to convince her. But soon they find themselves facing different troubles as their ship begins to experience problems and the two must work together if they want to survive.

This was a fun and quick read that I really enjoyed. Both strong-minded individuals, Jexx and Tome made an interesting pair and I enjoyed the conflict and passion between them as they battled each other. The story kept my interest from start to finish and I look forward to reading more by this author as this is the start of a series.

Werewolf Evelyn Smith loves her boyfriend, Kieran. Some people find it odd that an alpha female would choose a weaker mate, but Evelyn is willing to ignore her occasional cravings for submission when the reward is a fulfilling life with a man who loves her.

Kieran Rhys doesn’t mind the mocking jibes of his pack, but knowing the woman he loves has needs he can’t meet drives him crazy. After months of coaxing, he’s finally convinced Evelyn to accompany him to Last Call. If he can’t give his lover what she needs, he’ll find someone to help him.

Tequila Sunrise: Looking for domination.

Unrequited love has been hard on Zack Elliott. Even if the object of his desire returned his feelings, she’s a fragile human whose body couldn’t withstand the force of his needs. Evelyn and Kieran seem like the perfect solution, especially when he realizes the one thing they need is the one thing he’s been holding back for far too long -- absolute domination.

This quick read features alpha werewolf Evelyn Smith and her boyfriend Kieran. Kieran, a weaker wolf, knows that Evelyn has needs that he cannot meet so they have come to Last Call, a bar catering to the unusual, looking for domination. Neither is sure what they’ll get when they order a Tequila Sunrise, the drink signaling that they are looking for a dominant partner for the night, but are both pleasantly surprised by Zach, a strong individual who proceeds to show them what they need in some very steamy scenes. But soon the tables turn and Zach finds that he realizes he can learn from his “students” and their relationship with one another as all three learn to let go.

This was a very enjoyable story as each character added something interesting to the mix. Evelyn, a strong female, struggles to give up control, something she is used to having due to her unbalanced relationship with the weaker Kieran. Kieran is a wonderful character willing to do anything to make his girlfriend happy even if it means letting another man be with them. That takes a lot of strength and confidence in your relationship, in my opinion and I felt that these two definitely had a strong relationship. Both learned quite a lot from the encounter.

As for the third party of the story, Zach, he fascinated me and I felt that his part of the story was left a little unfinished. He has longed for another woman for a long time, yet he is reluctant to pursue her because he fears hurting her…hopefully this means another book featuring this fascinating character is in the works as I’d love to read more of Zach.

Caitlin Carlson, the only non-witch in the powerful Dumitrescu line, needs to lose her virginity, and fast. A family legend about a pure soul with prophetic visions has put her first in line for a good, old-fashioned sacrifice, and visiting Last Call seems like the perfect way to head off her one-way trip to the altar. Buy a drink, go upstairs, have sex. Simple.

Virgin Daiquiri: Looking for a first lover.

Being a demon isn't as easy as it used to be, especially with the dwindling number of corruptible souls in the 21st century. Luckily for Leofric, he's never been particularly concerned with corrupting enough innocents to earn a promotion off of the mortal plane. But when a virgin wanders into Last Call and stirs up competition among the younger demons, Leo finds himself tempted to rethink his stance on mixing a demon's business with a woman's pleasure.

Knowing that her family of witches plans to sacrifice her, Caitlin Carlson’s psychic visions have led her to Last Call and the decision to lose her virginity. Believing that if she is no longer a virgin, she won’t be sacrificed by her family, Caitlin orders a Virgin Daiquiri from the reluctant bartender, the drink signaling that a virgin is looking for a lover, and waits to see who will take her up on the offer. She doesn’t have to wait long as a half-dozen young demons flock around her, but Leofric, an older demon steps in and soon the pair finds themselves sharing a night that will change things for both of them.

While the story could have taken a very serious tone considering the gravity of the event and the circumstances, I loved that the author allowed Caitlin and Leo to share an almost playful relationship that quickly turned scorching hot as they came together. Caitlin and Leo definitely made an interesting couple, an innocent psychic and a jaded demon. I loved these characters and would have enjoyed seeing more of their relationship beyond the bedroom. I became so immersed in their story that I didn’t want the book to end and wished it would have lasted longer.

Denise has always been a strong woman and the men in her life have expected her to be just as demanding and dominating under the covers. She never met the man that made her heart pulse with desire or who took control, because she was always in control, and it left her empty inside. Despite a successful career, and graduating at the top of her class in the FBI academy, she never had the same success in love. Her problem was she held a secret that she didn't even want to admit to herself. A secret so dark and twisted that she pushed it to the bottom of her heart and hid it there. She had a secret desire to feel conquered, and completely ravished in bed. She wanted to be tied up and teased until she cried out in ecstasy. Denise never met the man she felt safe sharing her secret desire to submit to. Until the day she met Victor.

Bound By Desire is a very exciting book that contained several stories.

I enjoyed the story of the Brock Hall case that the FBI was working on. It was cute that the new agent, Denise Walden, was able to deduce so much from a simple interview just by body language that other, more experienced agents did not pick up on. I liked how Denise made her way into the”good old boys” club with all the male agents. She showed how tenacious she was and showed her ability to work well with the best of them. There was also a pretty good story of a bomb in a suitcase toward the end of the book. Denise's powers of deduction were very sharp.

Denise Walden is an agent through and through but she has thoughts of being submissive. After she finagles an invitation to Victor's party, I could see how she was afraid to let anyone know what she was doing. It was hilarious how she disguised herself as a Marilyn Monroe look a like. Denise's secret fantasies come true when she lets herself go for the evening. The workplace scenes are very cute and lead to a misunderstanding that bring about a fantastic conclusion.

Victor De La Cruz is ten years Denise's senior and her boss at the FBI along with being the person who hired her in the first place. If that isn't enough to bring about pages of nail biting tension, he is also a Dominant who is willing to fulfill Marilyn's every fantasy. It was interesting to see how long it took this FBI agent to find his woman.

A kidnapping, a bomb, and lots of scorching hot sex both in and out of the workplace. I know I don't need anything else. Bound By Desire kept me bound to my chair from start to finish.

How does a woman get past the shock of her fiancé leaving her at the altar -- for a man? For Kristen Carter, it involves throwing herself into her job as a journalist, and justifying that her life is much better without a man in it. Period. That is, until sexy and seductive construction worker Ayden McKenzie moves in next door. From the first moment she spies him naked through his bedroom window, she is instantly drawn to him like a moth to a flame.

But Ayden’s been around the block -- several times. Now he's craving the stability that a steady relationship can bring, and once he meets his next-door neighbor he feels he's finally met his equal. The problem lies in turning Kristen into a believer … even after an unexpected visitor turns their world upside down.

Kristen is a woman scorned so of course when she meets Ayden and finds herself attracted, she turns and runs the other way. There is no way she will be hurt again. Ayden is the one guy who is out to prove to Kristen that not all men are the same. He will do whatever it takes to get the woman he adores.

I fell in love with this story as soon as Ayden's character was introduced. He was a construction worker with a nice, hard body. He loved kids and enjoyed a woman in his arms. He was bound and determined that woman would be Kristen. I loved his tenacity, his patience and the way he held Kristen not just to make love to but to let her know that he would be there. I thought the plot line was fabulous. The author took me on a trip into the lives of Kristen and Ayden and I did not want to leave. They were a fun couple who had a few issues to deal with but it was interesting finding out how they dealt with certain situations. The instant attraction that they had for each other made the characters all that much more captivating.

I do have to add in my review that there is a tiny bit of voyeurism but not enough to warrant a person not to read Breathing Shallow if that sort of stuff offends you. You will find that the story line is consistent, upbeat and has just enough sexual tension throughout the book to really appreciate the sexual scenes when they come along.

Stephanie Adkins did a great job of writing what this reader is interested in. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in contemporary romance with just a splash of eroticism.

Taniea is dumped by her boyfriend for being too bold, too aggressive and too mouthy. Throwing herself into her new job she traveled to China and met Michael Shen. She convinced him that a fling while she was in his country would be time well spent for them both. Would two weeks of Taniea be too much for Michael to handle or will he leave everything he knows to have a thousand more with her?

Asian Spice is an intriguing tale of different cultures and standard stereotypes. We have Taniea Onxy, a young black woman who is climbing her way to the top of the corporate ladder in the automobile industry. Her boyfriend, DeMarcus Green, is very insecure. He breaks up with Taniea due to his belief that a man should make more money than a woman. I believe Taniea is better off without a man who believes in the stereotype of the little woman being dependent on a man.

Taniea believes she is having a terrible day until she discovers she is given the opportunity to be head of training at a new plant in Indiana and will travel to China for her training. I love how she jumps on this chance to prove that she is able to handle anything thrown at her. When she goes to China, she has a personal escort from the company to help her while she is there. That person is Michael Shen.

Michael is gorgeous. He would be my cup of tea and I know he was definitely Taniea's. He is not intimidated by Taniea in any way. Michael jumps on the opportunity to have a no strings affair with her. Micheal is very conscientious. He never shirks his responsibilities as escort, and he frequently reminds Taniea through the story that he is being watched to make sure he preforms his duties.

As the days went by, I felt the love growing between Michael and Taniea. I enjoyed how they showed respect for each other throughout the story. Taniea deals with Michael's old girlfriend when she appears and causes problems. I knew then, that Taniea was serious about how she felt for Micheal. When she had to leave China, my heart broke for these two lovers.

I enjoyed this captivating story of love across the miles. I wanted to read more about Michael and Taniea and their future. Asian Spice definitely had what it takes to spice up my day.
