Length: Short Story (27 pgs)
Rating: 4.5 Cherries
After a weird artist tattoos a werewolf on her arm, Angel gets lost in a snowstorm and stops at a remote house to ask for directions. She has no idea the house is owned by a once famous singer who disappeared from the public eye five years ago.
The last thing Gannon wants is a guest, especially not during the holiday season when he's reminded of his forced separation from the human race. He doesn't expect the explosive attraction between him and Angel, but how can he, a man cursed to be a shapeshifter, resist a woman with a werewolf tattooed on her arm?
Angel is the only one who can tame his beast, giving him the greatest Christmas gift of his life.
Angel leaves a holiday party rather drunk, and stumbles into a strange tattoo parlor. She tells the woman to give her something wild. When she sobers up, there is a tattoo of a werewolf on her arm. Shortly after, Angel gets lost in a strange snowstorm, and finds refuge in a mountain cabin. Gannon used to be the front man for a successful band, but he dropped out of sight about five years ago. What mysterious forces brought Angel and Gannon together? Can these two find a way to get past their differences and find common ground to base a relationship on? Can Angel accept all that Gannon is, or will she run when she discovers his true nature?
Kate Hill writes with such passion and depth, I always find many threads that bring the stories to life. Angel starts out just a bit confused, after leaving the party. She doesn’t set out to meet a famous person, she just kind of falls into it. She was very likable as she struggled with the situations she found herself in.
Gannon has hidden for so long, it really isn’t clear at first if he can open up to Angel and care for her. He is so afraid she will turn away, but he also fears what he may do to her as well. I felt for him as he tried to decide if she would still love him no matter what his nature.
I loved the passionate scene as the two learn that they are meant for each other, and when they confront the tattoo artist, she confirms that she put them in line for each other. These characters are real and deep and caring, and I loved the happy ever after that comes with it. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Kate Hill book without hot and extremely sweaty sex, and there is enough of that to warm your wintry nights. If you want a short, hot read this one is for you.
