There’s only one man she needs to believe in. Him.
Unbelievable, Book 1
When it comes to her love life, the name of Aubrey Mathison’s coffee shop says it all: “Bean There, Done That”. There’s only one harmless man in her life right now—the homeless one parked outside the shop. Except the crazy things he says keep coming true.
She has to laugh at “You’ll meet your soul mate today”, though. Divorce taught her that men as gorgeous as sexy police chief Price Delacroix are not to be trusted. She’s totally up for a one-night stand, but more than that? No, thanks.
Price bears his own scars from the past, but he knows instantly that Aubrey is his. How to convince her he wants more than to be her personal jungle gym? Cut her off. That means no more mattress gymnastics—until she starts seeing things his way.
Aubrey is just as determined Price’s campaign to wear down her resistance is going to fail, no matter how wickedly determined he is. Until her resident prophet spouts a new prediction: her soul mate’s life is in danger…
Warning: A sexy cop who doesn’t take no for an answer, a sassy heroine who knows the power of a good striptease, spankings, anal, and enough variety in hot sexual positions to make your toes curl. Oh, and a slightly crazy guardian angel.
Spunky, charming and full of life, Aubrey Mathison is a coffee shop owner just going about her day as usual. This includes walking by the same homeless man every morning. He smells to high heaven but he's harmless; Aubrey is sure of it. But then the little things that he tells her every morning start coming true. Naturally what girl in her right mind wouldn’t be a little freaked when these little premonitions start coming true? Aubrey is in her right mind and a pretty clever girl, so she's starting to get spooked. Throw in the sexiest man she has ever met who makes her extremely nervous and she's not sure which way is up. I loved her spunk and could certainly relate to her incredulity as her world went crazy around her.
Price Delacroix is the new police chief and thinks he's only doing his duty when checking out Aubrey’s shop after a fire all but burns it down. What isn’t his duty is to fall so hard and so fast for the adorable shop owner. Pretty level-headed and yet open-minded he accepts the coincidence of the fire and the prediction by the "bum". He takes it all in stride and I couldn't help but admire his attitude. I was immediately captured by the fun-loving duo of Aubrey and Price, and laughed at the quirky bum’s prophecies.
Despite the fact that I felt Aubrey and Price’s relationship was way too rushed and weighed on the dubious side of reality, I enjoyed their romance. I did feel that the believability of the two main characters' immediate undying love for each other happened too quickly and was not given enough time to develop and would have liked to see more of a courtship before they declared said love. Still it was a very enjoyable book.
If you are in the mood for a fast, fun read, this is the book for you. I can’t deny that I was carried away with such an enlightening and magical story and got quite a few laughs in the process. I definitely recommend If You Believe.
