Eden DeCarlo may have narrowly lost Miami’s best chef competition and the prize money she desperately needs, but she has caught the eye of dangerously virile Rafael Zayas, one of the judges and a wealthy restaurateur. Despite her vow not to let any man derail her life, Eden’s captivated by Rafe’s imposing masculinity, then challenged by the business deal he offers. He’ll invest in her new venture if, for one month, she can satisfy his culinary expectations and the sexual attraction they both feel.
Dominant and unashamed, Rafe knows what he wants when it comes to carnal pleasure and will spare no seduction to have Eden in all the ways he demands—naked, wanting, submissive.
Within thirty days, he will teach her the delights of yielding to passion, relinquishing all control to him and fulfilling her deepest, darkest and most delicious desires.
Ay carumba! Never has a title to a story been so appropriate. Deep, Dark, Delicious is all of those things and more, with enough heat, intensity, and heart to get your blood pumping and your motor running.
There are several themes and elements at play in the story, and each of them added richness to the material. Both Eden and Rafe are Cuban, have a love of food and family, and know what it means to strive for something better. Each have overcome adversity, made a place for themselves, and have struggled to maintain what they’ve worked so hard to achieve. Their mutual attraction comes as no surprise, and is based on something more than physical appearances, but rather a deep-seated desire and passion they were born with.
The bargain they make is only the icing on the cake, and alludes to something far greater as the story progresses and the characters begin to shine. Heartaches in Eden’s past make it impossible for her to connect emotionally, while Rafe knows deep within his soul that he has found the only woman who can complete him as a man. The journey to trust is both hot and unpredictable, and I couldn’t wait to see what new way Rafe intended to break down the walls keeping him on the outside to uncover the woman hidden within. There are heady abandonment themes present, which ensure Eden and Rafe walk a precarious and uncharted path.
This is a must read for those who love an emotional journey for both the hero and heroine. Although the heat is present, it is used as a catalyst to strip away Eden’s defenses and allow Rafe to take its place as a shield that will always do what is best for the woman he loves, even if she’s not aware of it at the time. The BDSM themes are twined beautifully into the story, and work to bring Eden out of her shell while allowing Rafe to cherish her in the way she never knew existed.
Do not miss out on your chance to read Deep, Dark, Delicious. I couldn’t put this story down from beginning to end, and fell in love with the characters. You’ll laugh, you’ll squirm, and by the story’s conclusion, you’ll be reaching for a box of Kleenex.
