"Your life is forfeit if you open that door.”

All her life, Lady Isabel Colven has followed the path laid out for her, content to look neither left nor right for excitement. Her future holds a dutiful, passionless marriage to some nice young man, and she’s content…until the exotic and compelling Lord Rukh Hayle threatens her maidenly reserve. Rumor paints him as a wife-murderer; desire tempts her to look past his aura of danger.

Rukh refuses to let his family’s curse kill a third bride, but Isabel awakens the Raven within him, compels him to take her to wife—and to bed—despite the secrets that live under his skin. That lie is locked in the darkest corners of the manor, waiting to be unleashed. Their lusty union arouses the curse, entangling Isabel in an erotic tug of war that can only end in her destruction. There is no escape for either of them. Not from his family’s shadowy history. Not from demons imagined and real. And not from the choice Rukh faces to save his bride from a fate worse than death…

Love…Lust…Anger…and Desire all blur into one urge…Hunger. What happens when a dangerous predator taunts you from behind a closed door and by merely opening that door, you forfeit your life?

Lady Isabel Colven is young, naïve and content to live a dutiful, passionless marriage to a man of her mother’s choosing. That is, until she meets the exotic and compelling Lord Rukh Hayle. Although rumors have it that he’s a wife-murderer, Lady Isabel is unable to deny the ruggedly handsome Lord Hayle and the danger that surrounds him. Confused by the sensual feelings her traitorous body exhibits every time she’s near the sexy Raven, Lady Isabel is bound and determined not to become his wife and third victim to the family curse. The curse that engulfs Lord Hayle and all of the inhabitants of Hayle Manor. Will she escape the desires plaguing her body and avoid the Hayle curse? Or, will she be the next to fall victim to the predator behind the red door? If by some chance she does become Lady Hale, will their love be enough to break the family curse and set them free?

Bound and determined to prevent his family’s curse from killing yet another bride Lord Hayle struggles to control his desires for the young and naïve Lady Colven. But, when Isabel’s body and soul awakens the Raven within him, Rukh is unable to resist the sexy vixen. When passion overtakes both of them and they’re caught by their peers, the choice is taken from them. Will Rukh succeed in convincing his new bride to remain at Hayle Manor even though her life is in danger every moment of the day? Or, will he realize that the sacrifice is too great, rebel against his family to save his mate, and doom them all to life without immortality?

The Forbidden Chamber is riveting and had me sitting on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The story line is action-packed and will keep you guessing at every turn of the page. The imagery of the historical period is so vivid that you can envision the carriages, the Ravens flying, the young ladies in long flowing dresses with tight corsets and petticoats, and the stoic, aristocratic times when women were supposed to be proper and dutiful to their husbands, which in essence, meant they weren’t allowed to enjoy having sex with their spouses. The language used in the book only helped bring the story to life for the period in which it takes place.

The erotic tug of war between Lady Isabel and Lord Rukh is intense, exciting, and sensual which makes the sex explosive when they come together. I love how Ms. Drake slowly allows the reader to learn more about Lord Hayle and his family’s curse through the eyes of Lady Isabel. Moreover, I enjoyed the way Ms. Drake showed the strengths and weaknesses of both Lady Isabel and Lord Rukh. How their demeanor changed when they were alone and she was allowed to embrace her sexuality and how he was allowed to exhibit his playful side.

The Forbidden Chamber is the ideal title for a forbidden love, plagued by a family curse, and a heartless villain…a villain that you’ll love to hate. Two thumbs up to Ms. Drake for providing us with a fast-paced, action-driven, heart-warming, sensual story that brings the characters to life and will captivate the reader; thereby, making them beg for more. I would definitely recommend The Forbidden Chamber to my friends.
