What a girl wants and what a girl needs are sometimes two different things…

For Melissa “Lucky” Chance, another stretch in Ganymede’s ice prison is nothing new. The flash-freeze that’s supposed to destroy her will only leaves her with an insatiable desire for the first hot body she lays eyes on. Except this time, she faces a death sentence. Her only hope of escape lies with the man known as The Butcher.

John Ramius understands the logic behind his conviction as a criminally insane mass murderer. No man should have been able to slaughter over fifty men in as many minutes, but no one sees the underlying curse that compels him to sense—and fulfill—someone’s deepest need. Chance’s skill will free him to kill the Sun-King; he will find no rest until he does.

As they run from the forces of the Jovian colonies, Ramius finds himself temporarily sidetracked, not only by Chance’s relentless desire, but by her underlying, unspoken need. Ignoring it—or his own compulsion to do every wicked thing imaginable to her—is not an option.

Only after all their defenses are stripped away do they discover that their meeting wasn’t by chance. Someone is manipulating them both, and the only way out is the path to their destruction…

Breaking Chance is an action packed, in your face sci-fi fantasy that will make your heart race. Author Kim Knox has written another winner with characters that take over the page and a plot that never slows down.

Chance is an anomaly. The chip in her brain allows her to controls thing she shouldn’t. Captured as a thief, she faces her sentence with the renowned killer, The Butcher. John Ramius shouldn’t excite her so, as he’s insane and dangerous. Yet, when opportunity strikes, she aides him in escaping their punishment – a slow and agonizing death – and thus begins something more. Together, they will face danger, an intertwined past, and a future together.

To say more would truly be to ruin this story. Chance is fantastic as the feisty woman who knows what she wants and what she doesn’t, while John is the perfect hero who forces her to face her past and accept it. The plot is intricate and well developed, and the action doesn’t stop. I loved the world Ms. Knox has created, and found many of her ideas to be novel and intriguing. There is enough tension to grip your gut, yet, enough romance and humor to light things up when needed. Sci-fi romances are oftentimes hit and miss – this one being a definite hit.

Fans of the genre should definitely check out Breaking Chance. You get heat, you get heart, and you get plenty of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat.
