After an abusive Master nearly beat her to death, submissive Lora Nelson turned her back on the lifestyle and escaped into a mundane existence. She works the night shift at a grocery store and lives in a run-down apartment, but she has her freedom and, more importantly, her dignity.

And then he shows up.

The mysterious stranger catches her unaware in her own apartment, and offers her a tantalizing choice -- let him reintroduce her to the world of BDSM on her terms. Now, Lora just has to decide if she has the courage to submit to a new Master, one who promises to chase away her shadows, and give her more than she could ever imagine.

Lora Nelson has been working at a shabby grocery store ever since she escaped from an abusive master. Not making much and living in a run down neighborhood. She begins to feel as if she is in a rut and never going to bring herself up and out of it. Then one day after work a stranger surprises her in her apartment. The stranger asks her if she would like to return to the world she ran away from. Will Lora let the stranger be her master or will she tell him to go away and never come back?

The author brings the reader into an interesting world with this story. Lora is a strong woman who has taken a big step in her life and in need of something more at this time. The reader feels for Lora as she goes through the short list of who she thinks could be her sexy stranger. She may have escaped from a dangerous relationship but she is stuck in a bad neighborhood and surrounded by the dregs of life.

When Lora finally finds out whom her stranger is you hope that she will agree to be mastered by him. Even though this story was short I enjoyed the sexual buildup between Lora and her hero.

This story was a strong introduction for me to this author. Riley Ashford has a good writing style and I will be on the look out for longer books by this author so that I may read more in depth of their characters and emotions.
