Maura is the best pilot for experimental small craft that the Alliance has seen in decades. When a research treaty allows a representative from Nyal space to participate, she has a fight on her hands. Alzor is the best his species has to offer and that is saying something. His tail does not impede his ability to fly a ship, shuttle, or fighting craft. When Maura's craft becomes stranded in a test flight, the giant kitty comes to get her. His craft has a difficulty and they are forced onto a hospitable world. Now that they are on equal footing, Alzor has only to defend himself against her viper tongue for two days when a shuttle will be able to retrieve them. His ways of keeping her mouth busy become quite inventive.
Alliance experimental pilot Maura Aitcheson is the best there is at what she does. The only other pilot who comes close is Alzor, a pilot from Nyal space. When Maura experiences a problem on a test run, Alzor comes to her rescue in his ship. Alzor is the only male that sets off Maura's warning bells, and she is confused about what she wants from him. Alzor is from a feline-based race, and Maura is Terran.
When Alzor encounters a breakdown in an asteroid field, Maura returns the favor of rescue, borrowing an experimental ship meant for the Sector Guard. Complicating things is the fact that Alzor is a feline shifter “in rut” and Maura is attracting him in the most basic of ways. Can Maura get Alzor safely out of the asteroid field? Can these two avoid the attraction growing between them? Will the new ship perform as promised? Most important, just what form does Alzor take when he shifts?
I love the characters that emerge from the Mind of Viola Grace. I never know what will happen with them, and this book is no exception. Maura is a strong Terran woman. She volunteered for duty with the Alliance, and is willing and able to do her job to the best of her considerable abilities. She is an excellent pilot, and sassy and courageous heroine, and one smart enough to recognize when she has met her match.
That match is Alzor, feline shifter from Nyal space. He is strong, handsome, and just a little bit on the devious side. He is willing to do whatever it takes to make Maura his mate. Through a series of accidents, these two are thrown together and must find a way to survive and get along. The love that builds between them sneaks up on Maura, but the passion that they feel is magnificent.
I love the twists that Ms. Grace puts in each of her stories of the Terran Times, finding ways to link her stories, sometimes subtly and sometimes not. Do we find out what form Alzor assumes when not humanoid? Yes and it is magnificent to behold. What is it you ask? Read Enraptured and discover it for yourself.
