Troy Summers is a cop. He's recently been partnered with fellow police officer, Jamie Everson, and they get along great. He likes Jamie's brother, Nicky, even more.
When Nicky gets beaten up by his ex-boyfriend and comes to him for help, Troy can't say no, not when it brings Nicky right into his arms. Even still, Troy wants to take things slow with Nicky. He knows they have a connection but he wants to build a relationship with him, even if it means hiding it from Nicky's brother and the rest of the world.
But when Troy gets shot during a drug bust, all bets are off. Their secret relationship comes out. It not only lets everyone know that they've been living together, but brings Bruce back into the picture. Jamie and Troy have to work together to save not only Nicky but themselves but can they save Nicky in time or will Troy lose the most intriguing man he's ever met?
Loneliness makes people do desperate things…
Unfortunately, Nicky Everson’s desperation to have someone, anyone, love him for the man he is put him in harm’s way. Nicky is one of the most loveable characters by far that Ms. Glenn has written. I must admit that I instantly fell in love with him and felt the need to protect him the same way Troy Summers does the first time they meet, which is very sexy by the way. Although Nicky isn’t considered manly or masculine by his brother, Jamie’s standards, he is all man to Troy. In spite of Jaimie and Bruce’s opinion, Nicky is smart, kindhearted, extremely loveable and talented to boot. He knows the importance of making a house a home, which is exactly what he does for Troy. What’s that old saying… one normally finds love when they’re not looking for it? Well, Nicky and Troy are definitely not the exception to this rule. There’s only one problem, Nicky has a vindictive, lunatic of an ex-boyfriend on his heels trying to literally beat the life out of him. Will Troy come to Nicky’s rescue and save him from Bruce as well as himself? Will they embrace the fact that they’re destined to be soul mates for all eternity? Only time will tell.
Troy Summers has a new partner at work and now all he needs is a new partner in life. Imagine his surprise when he falls for his partner’s little brother. Determined to explore the intense feelings emanating between him and Nicky, Troy can’t help but offer the man refuge when his lunatic of an ex-boyfriend finds him. Troy is strong, ruggedly handsome, kindhearted, and a great listener, which is exactly what Nicky needs. Just his mere touch has the power to make Nicky feel safe and comforted. But that goes both ways, Troy quickly discovers when Bruce beats Nicky up for a second time. Will the two men be able to save Nicky from a fate worse than death, or maybe death itself if Bruce has his way? Moreover, will Troy and Nicky be able to convince Jamie that their love for one another is the best for all parties involved? Guess you’ll have to read the book to find out.
Picture Me Perfect, the prequel to Sammy Dane, had me biting my nails from the first chapter until the very end. The intensity and suspense of what would happen next combined with whether or not Nicky would be able to escape Bruce as he continuously tried to beat the life out of the man had my heart racing and my emotions hanging on by a thread. There were times that I was afraid Nicky wouldn’t survive. Like any villain, Bruce is definitely a character that you will hate with a passion from page one. There were times that I wanted to beat the man myself and give him a taste of his own sick, sadistic medicine.
In addition, there were times that I wanted to scream at Jamie, Nicky’s brother, for picking on Nicky and never listening to him. He is as bad as Bruce with the verbal abuse. Thank goodness for Troy who is definitely Nicky’s knight in shining armor. He refuses to let Jaime, Bruce or anyone else pick on Nicky as he takes up the role of Nicky’s lover and protector. The man is simply amazing and you can’t help but fall in love with both of them, as their characters quickly come to life on the page. The plot of the story is realistic, well-written and provides insight into how tough it can be to be yourself, regardless of whether or not you’re homosexual or heterosexual, and I appreciated that aspect of the book.
Ms. Glenn has definitely hit a home run with Picture Me Perfect. I purposely waited to read Sammy Dane so that I could read the books in order – hint, hint – so you know which book I’ll be reading next. If you’re looking for an intense, captivating, fast-paced story with loveable characters who embrace who they truly are in life, then Picture Me Perfect is the book to read. Two thumbs up to Ms. Glenn for providing us with a heartfelt, sensual story that’s guaranteed to keep your heart racing, put a smile on your face, bring a tear to your eye and have you begging for more all in the same breath. I would definitely recommend Picture Me Perfect to my friends.
