Is it possible to start a new life with a bang…or rather, a spanking?

For Owen Connors that’s just what it takes. He’s about to embark on a journey filled with change, including a new job, a new home and something he never thought he’d have…a man who offers him everything, including the opportunity to become a creature steeped in legend…a werewolf. All Owen has to do is accept Sam’s love. Too bad that’s an emotion he abandoned a long time ago.

For werewolf Sam Sterling, change begins within himself. Vowing never to become like his father, who took pleasure in cruelty and brutality, Sam has learned to be calm, kind and passive. That works just fine for him until he meets the man he would take as his mate. When Owen ignores him in favor of a strong and charismatic alpha werewolf, Sam realizes it’s time for a change. For Owen, he’ll take charge and become the dominant, decisive lover Owen needs.

The characters in this story are to die for. I bet you'll not only fall in love with Owen and Sam, but also the other men in the pack. The joking and banter in this story between the men is so enjoyable you'll certainly find yourself laughing out loud. I know I did.

There were so many things that made me think the plot of this story was great. But, one point truly made the story for me. The fact that Sam changed the way he would normally pursue a mate to what Owen needed impressed me. Because of Owen’s past abuse Sam allowed him to set the pace of the relationship in order to build his trust. It showed the depth of his feelings for Owen.

I did however feel that the paranormal aspect of this story was lacking. It really could have been a love story without the werewolf element. The witches, while interesting, really didn’t add anything to the actual storyline or plot. However, I did think the subconflict added a lot to the story. When the man from Owen’s past showed up to start trouble, I felt it showed how much the trust between Owen and Sam had grown.

The sex scenes are frequent, and spicy, but I really think the emotional relationship itself was the most enjoyable part of this book. That does not mean that the sex scenes were lacking in any way, but the emotional aspect really did trump the physical for me. So whether you like to read a hot sexy tale, or a heart-warming love story, you will get whatever you need out of this story.
