Trent and Nia Connelly have been married for nearly a year and already their marriage is falling apart. Trent finally files for divorce when his wife continually pushes him away, denying them both what they need sexually.

Nia discovers too late what her fears and deceptions have wrought and now must fight to prove to Trent that they still have a marriage worth saving. When she offers herself, body and soul, as the obedient submissive he’s always desired, Trent is forced to reevaluate everything he knows about himself, his wife and their entire marriage.

Invitation to Decadence is a sultry, steamy, and emotional story about second chances. Author Nadia Aidan merges romance with oodles of heat and the result is a novella that fans of erotic romance are sure to enjoy.

The beginning of the story packs a heck of a punch and sets the scene. Nia and Trent were married a year before, but now the marriage is on the rocks. In a desperate, last ditch effort to show the man she loves that she’s all the woman he needs, Nia treads into Trent’s private territory, visiting his BDSM club. She’s shocked to discover her husband isn’t in Tokyo as she expected but is very much in residence. After he confronts her, she decides to take the gloves off, go for broke, and informs him that she’s come to his establishment to learn what it is that he wants and needs from her, as both a woman and a submissive.

Both Trent and Nia have deep-seated issues, especially when it comes to trust. While sex relieves the itch temporarily, it’s not enough to save their marriage if a deeper understanding doesn’t occur. It is due to this all important element that I had a few issues with the story, mostly regarding plot and character motivations. Nia and Trent met on a cruise a year before, had a pregnancy scare, and married. It wasn’t until she learned she wasn’t pregnant that things shifted and their relationship changed. Although the reasons are explained, they didn’t seem entirely feasible to me. Of course, the reconciliation is the focal point of the story, so I was able to move past it and did enjoy the heartbreaking scenes in which Nia is forced to place it all on the line and, in the doing, forces Trent to do the same.

The writing is fantastic and the sex scenes sizzle. There is also enough emotion and tension between Trey and Nia to choke you up, which is heady stuff when you’re enjoying a story in the erotic romance genre. The BDSM elements, while present, aren’t over the top. Although there is a very naughty and very memorable ménage scene that is sure to get the motor running.

If you’re in the mood for something that will tug at your heart, yet, make it race at the same time, be sure to check out Invitation to Decadence.
