Kidnapped and dumped in unfamiliar territory, Katie has no idea where she is. When Jeff finds her, her werewolf instincts tell her that he would never harm her. On the contrary, his dark kisses send flames of liquid lust sizzling through her veins. If only she knew who the old wolf who kidnapped her was, and why he'd chosen this territory to desert her.

It was definitely a family affair. When a man claiming to be Katie’s grandfather and trying to protect her, then leaves her tied and gagged on the Northern Rockies pack territory thousands of miles away from her home, the pack and Katie are more than a little puzzled. Since she has never met the old, seemingly senile, man before in her life Katie is determined to find out what exactly is going on.

With Jeff’s take charge-attitude and Katie’s innocence they complemented each other perfectly. From the moment Jeff met Katie he knew he would do anything to protect her. He was such a good guy I think he would have done so even if she had not been his mate. The fact that she was meant to be his was just an added bonus. Although Katie had a certain amount of pride and wanted to take care of herself, I found it hard to believe she was as independent as she declared to be. She seemed to have allowed her mother to dictate her life and then after she met Jeff she seemed to allow him to take charge as well.

Jack, the pack alpha, was another great strong character. I found myself loving his casual yet authoritative way of running the pack. He also had a way of knowing what was going on with his pack and what they needed without seeming invasive. You can easily tell why any werewolf would want to be in a pack ran by him. Maybe it is just the alpha mate mentally in me, but at times I found myself enjoying his reactions more than the two main characters'.

I liked the whole family feud aspect of the plot. The fact that Gerick came and kidnapped Katie, claiming to be her grandfather and doing what was best for her, while Katie’s mother just so happened to be away at that same time. It left Katie not knowing if she should believe the ranting of a crazy old man, or what her mother had told her since she was a child. This really helped me to understand why she becomes so accepting of her and Jeff’s relationship. He and the pack seemed to be the only ones she knew were telling the truth.

Jeff was Katie’s rock in a time of turmoil. It really showed me how great of a couple these two could eventually be. It was clear from the beginning that Jeff wanted to protect Katie even if it was from her family. And when he wasn’t being her protector he was more than willing to jump into the lover role - appreciating a woman the way all men should treat their mates.

With Jeff raining dark kisses all over Katie, I cannot help but give this story 4 cherries, and if Jack is still available he can feel free and rain a few on me.
