Raleigh Avel has had moderate success with her jewellery shop, but when she is robbed, she has to face the new lawmen on Elsinor. She wouldn’t have bothered, but she had no way to dispose of the body.
Azeel, Raf and Hector weren’t too sure about taking a post on a world ruled by formality and concealing clothing, but they were drawn to it despite their misgivings. Investigating a dead body at a break-in is par for their course, finding the weapon that killed the robber is the problem.
It has violet eyes, long black hair, and…they begin to suspect…a wild rose tattoo.
I was anxious to read this second book in Zenina Masters’ Four Ever More series, to see if it was as good as the first. I am delighted to report that it was even better than the first book.
Imagine a future where cloning is seen as the best way to provide unbiased lawmen and peacekeepers for the many inhabited worlds. Seventeen races had donated their genetic materials to this project in the hopes that Dr. Argent Deveraux could succeed. But she wanted more than sterile males who would do only their duty, so she secretly created a fourth for each group of three men, that one being who would complete them, and would be able to procreate only with her mates.
Raleigh Avel is trying to pull her life together after the murder of her adopted parents by a band of robbers. Although she was the master craftsman in the family jewelry business, people believe it was her father, and Raleigh knows she will not have great success now that they are gone. Between unwelcome advances from the Prince, and closing up the shop, she is stressed out. When a robber breaks in to try and steal her life’s work, Raleigh stops him the only way possible-using her power of electricity, she shocks the man. Now she just has to figure out how to dispose of the body.
When the lawmen summoned by the prince to bring her to him arrive, they realize immediately that Raleigh is their fourth, that one woman created to complete their set. Azeel, Raf and Hector had given up on ever finding their fourth, now they have to find a way to keep the prince from taking their woman. Can these three convince Raleigh that they were meant to be together? Will they be able to protect her, and uncover the truth about the prince’s involvement in her parents’ death?
I loved Raleigh, a woman determined to stand on her own after the murder of her parents. I liked her independent spirit, and her determination to avoid the clutches of the evil prince. I found a bit more tension in this one, as the danger to Raleigh from the prince continues to escalate.
The three men are a delight. All three are tall, dark and extremely sexy, and when they realize who Raleigh is they show their delight quite honestly. I liked that in this book, because of the type of world Raleigh lives on, she goes to her mates as a virgin, having consistently thwarted the prince in his attempts to take her virtue.
If these two books are any indication, Ms. Masters has a hit on her hands, and I can’t wait to read more of this series, filled with humor, passion and screaming hot sex. If you are looking for some humor with your hot and heavy action, these are for you.
