Making his living as a model allows Aaron Stevens to pay his way through film school at NYU. While on a photo shoot, he meets Matt Carson, a journalism student who wants to interview Aaron for his senior project, and they feel an instant connection that catches them both off guard. As their relationship develops over the next week, they open up to each other about their pasts, but attraction won't be enough to keep them together unless they can share their secrets too.

Model-slash-film-student meet college student, but keep your hands to yourself...for now.

Piqued your interest? As soon as I saw the title, I was hooked. I like stories with an artsy angle and this one didn’t disappoint. Aaron and Matt are written in a very tender manner. There is a lot going on in this short story, but it’s not short on detail or emotion. Shae Connor writes with such fluidity that I didn’t want to stop reading, even after the last page.

Matt is an interesting, but tortured man. He knows what he wants and who he wants, and that is Aaron. I liked how he went about staking his claim, so to speak. He’s a shy guy by nature and he’s made mistakes in his life. His nuances and fallibility is what really made him endearing to me. He’s not perfect by any means, and it’s a nice change.

Aaron seems to have it all. He’s got a great job that he can do pretty much when he wants. He’s smart and trying to make something else of himself besides a pretty face. I liked how he’s not perfect either. As much as he’s outgoing, he’s also very guarded. He’s not going to just give in to anyone who gives him the eye or succumb to the temptations many models fall prey to. What really made him interesting to me was his reaction to Matt. Yes, there is a time of strife (who never has strife in their lives?), and how he handles it is human and believable.

If you want a story that’s white hot and tender at the same time, then you need to read Model Student. I give this story 4 cherries.
