Gamma wolf Steffan may have been in love with his best friend for years, but he knows that’s not enough. Francis deserves a more dominant mate, and Steffan intends to make sure he gets one.

Steffan has been best friends with Francis ever since the younger wolf joined the pack after his own parents died. He’s been in love with him for just as long. But when a new beta joins their pack, he knows it’s time to step aside and let Francis form a bond with a more dominant wolf.

Francis has no idea why Steffan’s been acting so strangely since the new wolves joined their pack. When he discovers the truth, he starts to question things he’d never thought to doubt before. What if he has no interest in a dominant mate? What if he could find the perfect partner far closer to home?

Everything is about to change for Francis and Steffan. The only question is: are the gammas strong enough to cope?

The cub decided to pursue the bear... or should I say wolf. I have heard of the phrase bears and cubs within the gay community but I never knew this term carried over to the werewolf community.

Steffan was the stand out character in this story. We all know at least one person in our lives who is a gentle giant like Steffan. You look at them and never think that they can be insecure especially when it comes to their size, but that is exactly the case with him. He was a sweetheart who I just wanted to see be happy in the end and if Francis made him happy than I wanted him to get his man.

Francis is no slouch, either as a character. He has the inner strength of a true wolf. He may not be the largest of men but he is man enough to know that Steffan is the best thing that will ever happen to him and he will do anything to help Steffan realize it. Even if he needs to tie Steffan up and demand that he realize they belong together. While Steffan is tied up there may be a few other things they can do also.

The conflict in this story left me a little baffled. I understood why Gunnar felt as if Steffan was a threat but the tension between the two was very wishy washy. One moment Gunnar seemed to want to beat Steffan up then the next he wanted to help Steffan and Francis work their problems out. The conflict also felt incomplete. This is part of a series so it may be carried over to the next story but I did not get a feeling that it was something that was purposefully left open-ended.

Regardless, it was the relationship development within this story that kept me turning pages. It flowed so seamlessly I continued to read until I was suddenly at the end. It is clear from the beginning that these two only have eyes for each other. The journey they take to reach a point of knowing they are true mates is one that will mesmerize anyone who picks up this story.

This story would also make a nice introduction to BDSM. Because the characters are just getting introduced to the BDSM games the reader gets to learn along with them.

For a story with strong, loving characters and plenty of heat, I recommend Pack Discipline: The Strength of a Gamma.
