Kira Jacobs is sick of always being the bridesmaid, never the bride. Sick of dating hot studs who have no more depth than the water in her sink. She’s determined to find a lasting meaningful relationship with a mature, suit-wearing man. But her goofy, stay-at-home neighbor sends her all kinds of hot signals.
Grant Havers left the high finance rat race after having a heart attack at thirty-eight. He’s done with living up to everyone’s expectations but his own. It’s time to go after what he wants. What he wants most is sexy Kira. He’s convinced her to try him out in bed, but she’s determined to leave it as sex only.
She’s tired of the run-around, but when walking sex enters the room...who’s Kira to turn him down? He’s scared their passion will consume him. Is it possible to die from fantastic sex? Grant’s ready to find out.
I’ve consumed the Turn Up the Heat series since the first book came out. Trust me, I’ve not been let down. Ms. Holt and Ms. Standifer create great characters that sizzle the pages and a sharp writing style that kept me firmly in my seat through the last page. This is one book I didn’t want to end.
Grant Havers is seriously sex-on-a-stick hot. I wouldn’t turn him down. But what made him really attractive wasn’t a physical attribute or his financial security. Nope. It was the series of events he made it through prior to the story. He’s a survivor in more than one sense of the word. A heart attack at 38...sheesh. I liked that he took care of himself—until he saw Kira. She made him come out of his little cocoon and find the inner sex God he really was. I’m still fanning myself.
Kira is a piece of work. She’s been hurt by one too many love-‘em-and-leave-‘em men. It stinks and it’s clouded her judgment for all men. Grant is just the man she needs—if they can both get past their hang ups. There were times I wasn’t fond of Kira because she tended to be very hard on herself, but I understood why and loved how she grew through the story.
I must mention the one love scene. Ms. Holt and Ms. Standifer wrote the bondage scene with such tenderness and emotion, I felt like I was there rather than in my home reading a story. I didn’t want it to end. Kudos, ladies.
If you want a book that’s steaming hot and sexy, then you need to read Steamed. I give this book 4 cherries.
