Ben knew there would never be a mate for him. No one in his or her right mind would want to be shackled with a man with no tenderness, no gentleness, and certainly no kindness. He didn't even know what those emotions were anymore. They were stripped from him, along with a good portion of his sanity. Ben has nothing to offer a mate, and he knows it.

When huge sky blue eyes peek out at him from under strawberry blond hair at a Wolf Mating party, Ben can't deny his fascination, or his need to claim Stefan as his mate. But Stefan comes with a lot of baggage. According to vampire law, he's been given away by his brother to Dane, the brother of Stefan's best friend, Audley. In exchange, Audley has been given to Stefan's brother. The problem? Audley and Stefan are both Ben's mates.

When Stefan and Audley are kidnapped, Ben and their friends race to save them. Can Ben survive long enough to save his mates, or will his worst nightmare come true? Can Stefan and Audley overcome their fears long enough to save their mate, or will they lose him forever?

Stormy Glenn does it again! You will fall in love with Ben, Stefan, and Audley.

Ms. Glenn has a very gripping way of pulling a reader in, and making them feel as though they are in the story along with her characters. Ben is the big, tough werewolf but he is also very vulnerable about thinking he will never be loved by anyone or find his mate. Stefan is very small, especially compared to Ben, but Ben’s size is actually a turn on for Stefan. I loved seeing Stefan going after what he wants -- Ben -- to claim him. Ben and Stefan bring out the best in each other. Later, when they go to save Stefan’s best friend, Audley, the reader finds out right away this couple is going to become a threesome. Audley is very apprehensive since he has been through so much. Ms. Glenn shows how much each of the men need the other two men in their lives. When Stefan’s and Audley’s evil brothers take them and their friend, Nate, the action really starts as members of the Wolf Creek Pack, and some of their extended family, take on the vampire brothers.

I felt that the love between Ben and Stefan was wonderful and the sex scenes were sizzling. I love how Ms. Glenn brings a werewolf and two vampires together in this story. It certainly makes for some scorching sex scenes. Then she added in the evil brothers and we also get a major battle. Tossing Audley into the mix kicked everything up to blistering! Ms. Glenn always has me waiting for her next amazing story and this one doesn't disappoint. I’ve already mentioned this story to several readers. Well done Ms. Glenn!

Kendra Masters and Sloan Johnson have been together for four years and are planning their wedding. Ad exec Kendra has issues of trust because of her father's abandonment, so she is forever—subconsciously—waiting for Sloan to leave her. Though he loves her, Sloan is tired of dealing with his nutty, but lovable, fianceé’s pre- and misconceived notions. So what if the sex is plentiful... and inventive... and hot...?

They’re both unsure if marriage is practical. Because in addition to wedding planning around Kendra’s neurosis, the couple has to deal with his libertine of a brother, her saboteur of a mother, and the fact that a very dangerous...someone...is stealing from Sloan's client's trust fund.

Time heals all wounds right? Maybe not.

Kendra Masters has issues of trust because of her father's abandonment. Actually, I think that may be putting it lightly. She has severe trust issues so she is constantly waiting for Sloan to leave her like her father left her mother.

Sloan is exhausted over trying to deal with Kendra. He is madly in love with her, but her misconceived notions are driving him up the wall. Not to mention Kendra’s mother, who seems to be intent sabotaging the wedding that has been four years in the making — yes I said four years. But once you start reading you might be surprised the relationship has made it as long as it has. Although it could be because of the fact that while Kendra and Sloan have trouble outside of the bedroom, they definitely don’t have any trouble inside the bedroom.

Not only did I like the lead characters, I enjoyed the secondary characters as well. Kendra’s mother is a woman you will come to love to hate. After you finish the story it will be clear why Kendra had so many trust issues. Believe me when I say Kendra’s father isn’t the only one to blame. Then there is Sloan’s brother — who I hope gets his own story — he is an enigma of a man who seems to be able to come up with sound advice for everyone except for himself.

I was not familiar with Ms. Riley’s work but I am glad I chose to review this book. I truly enjoyed it. Do Me Right is a wonderful romance story with just the right amount of erotic spice. The characters are ones the reader can relate to and the storyline is believable. This is one book you shouldn’t miss and you are guaranteed to be a fan of Ms. Riley’s once you do.

Sebastian Craig and Isabella Bryne have been best friends for five years in the Neverland of academia, and that's where they're planning to stay. So when Bella's brother, Asa, offers them a rent-free summer in his gorgeous home before they move to their next college and degree, they jump at the chance. It looks like a good deal at first... but there's more to Asa than meets the eye, and Sebastian finds himself suddenly hip-deep in complicated, grown-up problems and the frightening, bemusing prospect of having a family that will miss him when he's gone.

When the best summer of his life finally ends, Sebastian has to make a difficult decision between staying in perpetual childhood forever, and facing adulthood—with all of its joys and fears. It seems that when Sebastian and Bella came up with a master plan for the future, they didn't count on Sebastian being bewitched by Bella's brother.

Out and proud Sebastian thinks he’s seen it all until he finally meets Bella’s brother and is thrown for a loop. Sebastian is an outgoing, gregarious, fun loving guy who’s BFF’s with his best girl Bella. Bella and Sebastian met at college and have been side by side ever since. Through bad boyfriends and unfortunate clothing choices, the two are as thick as thieves. So when the chance comes up to bunk at her brother’s house for the summer before heading off for Sebastian’s second doctorate, the two friends jump at the chance. Little they did realize that summer would change their lives.

Bewitched By Bella’s Brother is another great story from Amy Lane. This one is a contemporary romance that is pretty sweet with the only tension from Sebastian’s commitment issues. The writing is great with a lot of fun banter and the friendship between Bella and Sebastian is really touching. They are catty, bitchy, and loving with each other. Bella’s brother Asa has an adorable son Jordan and is openly bisexual. He’s immediately interested in Sebastian but the two gradually fall in love. There is physical chemistry but they build a fulfilling emotional connection as well. Too often in books the characters have sex immediately and live happily ever after but this story shows that happening gradually and is all the better for it.

The story is incredibly quick to read and I definitely was sorry to see it end. It’s funny, witty, entertaining, absorbing, cute, and romantic. The sex between Asa and Sebastian is pretty hot but the dynamics of the family as a whole, including Bella and Asa’s mother, father, etc, make for a well rounded cast. Sebastian is the star though and well worthy of the spotlight. The only hiccup in this engaging story is Sebastian’s empty insistence on following his plans regardless of everything else. This keeps the tension in the story but the obvious happy ending is hanging over this conflict in neon lights so I could have done without it.

Other than that, Bewitched By Bella’s Brother delivers a thoroughly enchanting story from start to finish. This feels like a real love story and one you’ll just adore reading. Asa’s son Jordan threatens to steal the spotlight with his antics but he’s just one of the cast that’s likely to vie for reader hearts. Pick this up and choose your favorite. With as wonderful as this is, you’re bound to have a tough time choosing.

Three lifelong friends find themselves tangled in a web of love, pain and dangerous secrets in this erotic Garden of Eden tale.

Tall, dark and handsome Danny Carlow has always gotten whatever he wants except for the two he wants more than anything—his best friends, lovers Paul and Eve. Determined, he waits like a snake in the grass, poised for the right moment to offer them a temptation too delicious to resist.

Artist Eve Everton makes the painful decision to leave her true love Paul for the siren call of New York City. Ten years later, with her life in shambles, she returns. When Paul’s waiting arms aren’t available, Eve falls for Danny’s charm and finds herself a willing accomplice in the dangerous games Danny plays.

Former college football star Paul Mattling is now a successful attorney with a bright future ahead of him. But behind those brilliant blue eyes are secret desires for a taste of the forbidden. Will he play it safe or give in to Danny and Eve and bite the apple?

Reader Advisory: Not for the faint of heart, the pain in this story is vivid and real, the emotions even more so. Haunting and poignant, Beyond Eden presents a darker side of BDSM. You might gasp. You might cry. You might find yourself reading it again and again.

This story was so deliciously deviant it had me giggling like a school girl. This story will definitely leave you wiggling in your seat. You may even discover a few new things about yourself - I know I did.

Danny, Paul, and Eve are all committed - almost to a fault. They will do anything to make others around them happy. Danny was committed to getting the two loves of his life. Eve was committed to the relationship with both Danny and Paul, and Paul was committed to making his controlling father happy which did not include a relationship with Danny or his pain fetish. Watching all of this unravel was truly an amazing experience which left me feeling privileged as a reader to be able to experience such an arousing story.

Paul’s internal conflicts within this story really touched me on many levels. He had spent his entire childhood under the thumb of is control freak father. That turned him into a fetish whore who needed to experience pain and humiliation in order to function. It was a side of himself he could not share with anyone especially since Danny was his punisher. If anything was worse than being a fetish whore in his family's eyes it was being a gay fetish whore. So Paul had to make the ultimate sacrifice to please his father leaving everything he loved and thrived on for a life of boring vanilla ice cream. Sometimes the Garden of Eden isn’t as divine from the inside as it is on the out.

Although I do not know much about the BDSM world outside of a fictional story, I cannot help but feel as if this was not far from the reality of the world. With that said, this is not a story for the faint of heart. Paul has a pain fetish that I have never seen so elaborately captured within a story. As Danny describes, Paul would let a domme beat him to death while smiling in pleasure. The lines between pain and pleasure are definitely blurred, so if you cannot handle that, turn around now. I can say this story gave me a greater appreciation for BDSM.

It has been a long time since a story has touched me to the core the way this one did. At moments I was just so happy that I could not help but walk around with a smile on my face. At other times I was so upset I wanted to yell at not only the author but the characters for making me cry and feeling like my heart was being ripped out along with Paul, Danny and Eve’s. Even when crying, like Paul, I could not wait for more delightful punishment. I can say the emotional attachment I developed while reading will keep me thinking about the cast of this story for a long time.

All Shane Perkins ever wanted to be was a hero. But after a career-shattering decision to go down fighting, Shane comes home from the hospital to four empty walls, a pile of money, and a burning desire for someone to miss him the next time he gets hurt in the line of duty. He ends up an officer in the small town of Levee Oaks, and, addicted to the promise of family, he makes an effort to reconcile with his flighty, troubled sister. Kimmy makes her living as a dancer, and her partner steals Shane's breath at first sight.

Mikhail Vasilyovitch Bayul dances like an angel, but his past is less than heavenly. Since he left Russia, he's made only two promises: to stay off the streets and stay clean, and to take his mother someplace beautiful before she dies. Making promises to anybody else is completely out of the question—but then, Mikhail has never met anybody like Shane. Earnest, brave, and self-deprecating, Shane seems to speak Mikhail's language, and no one is more surprised than Mikhail to find that keeping promises is Shane's best talent of all.

Love is never an easy road but the results just may be worth it. Shane hasn’t had an easy life. From his neglected childhood to being an out cop in the LAPD, Shane’s weathered it all with stubbornness and dedication. Yet when he’s set up and seriously injured, Shane finally leaves the hectic city for more quiet in northern California. There he meets the skittish, difficult dancer Mikhail. Determined to win Mikhail over, the dedicated courting is neither easy nor smooth but eventually the two may just find happiness.

Making Promises is book two of the series after Keeping Promise Rock. You can read this story alone without having read the previous book but the characters from the first book pop in and out of the story so if you’re the kind that absolutely likes to know the background, read Keeping Promise Rock first, then this. Otherwise you should be fine picking this up on its own. Here, the quiet cop Shane is the star as his background and personality are matched up against the entertaining and difficult Russian, Mikhail. The story is very character driven as it follows their love from meeting to happy ever after and their journey is anything but easy and smooth. There are numerous obstacles, issues, problems, and conflicts both external and internal.

The writing is incredibly good. Once again the characters are three dimensional and the story sucks you in immediately. The relationship between Shane and Mikhail is rocky, emotional, and thoroughly engaging. You can’t help but root for these men even as they sabotage themselves. Shane is the more stubborn, even keel of the two as an awkward man struggling to fit in but never quite does. He clings to the family of his choice and dotes on them as much as possible while determined not to let Mikhail’s fear of commitment destroy a good thing. Mikhail is the more entertaining, and eye catching, of the two with his pain in the ass antics and true fear of promises. His difficult and painful past play a big part into the man he’s become and thus he has good reasons for why he’s so afraid of love.

Other than the dance between Shane and Mikhail as they fall in love, the story has numerous other conflicts. There is Mikhail’s dying mother, who is simply a wonderful loving woman that wants the best for her son and thinks only a woman can take care of him. There are also several scenes with Deacon, Crick, Joe, Jeff and Benny from the first book as they support and care for Shane and Mikhail as family. This is a great added element and also gives more emotion to the rocky romance.

Although I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first book, it’s a great romance and wonderful to read. The good writing and solid characters suck you into the story. The supporting cast seems to pop up magically whenever there is trouble – and almost too much, taking over scenes – but I doubt anyone will mind seeing beloved characters return. Fans of the series and author will definitely enjoy this offering while newcomers can easily pick it up and see what they’re missing.

Determined to have a final fling, she seeks out the comfort of a stranger’s arms. Except he turns out to be “stranger” than he first appears.

Kaden Rhodes knows what it’s like to be owned. Before he follows his orders to escort Jaime to the same fate, he can’t resist joining her in one last act of defiance. Before the night is over, though, he finds she has inched her way under his skin.

Their connection is hot, fast, completely irresistible…and they’re playing with fire. Discovery will render them useless to the First Dragon. And those marked useless end up dead.

This story offers an excellent spin on a magnificent mystical being. Jamie Dalton is about to lose her freedom to a Lord she has never met. In her infinite wisdom she decides to have a fling on the eve of her birthday as a big end to her impending doom. What she got was a man that made her body tingle with just one glance, and her heart soar in one day.

Kaden Rhodes does what he's told, but it doesn’t mean he has to like it. After years of watching, he waits for his chance to enchant Jamie in all of her beauty. It was only meant to be a one night thing, but the one night deal turned out to be so much more.

I loved Kaden he was one great Alpha male, even when he wasn’t technically alpha. I loved how he pretty much stayed the same even after he won. The twists in this book had me hanging on to every word and wondering what was next. Jamie was a strong and confident heroine, and I fell in love with her personality.

I was immersed in this world from the first chapter. Kim Knox does an excellent job of describing her mythical world, and it made the transition into the book very enjoyable. Kaden and Jamie are a powerful force and great together. It was a great read and I definitely recommend it if you love gryphons.

When world renowned architect, Devon Sparks meets Josephine Burnett, a brilliant interior designer, the attraction is instantaneous.

Devon reluctantly accepted the job of designing a house for his former lover who'd betrayed him with his best friend. Still a little emotionally battered, he is content to never love again, until Josephine shows up on his doorstep.

To be paired with Devon Sparks is Josephine's chance to showcase her talents. Devon comes off as rude at first, but she quickly finds out the man behind the cold, hard exterior is a man with the need to be loved.

Bound to a guy who doesn't deserve her loyalty, Josephine is hesitant to grasp the chance to be loved totally by a man who is not of her race, until Devon takes matters into his own hands and gives her a taste of the passion they could share.

But can he convince her?

This book delivers everything I could hope for, and then quite a bit more. It has plot, interesting characters, sexual tension, and lots of sex.

The story started out nicely. The two main characters in the book were hot and strong. The attraction was steaming and of course the lusting was intense.

I experienced several emotions while reading this book including laughter, tears, and being ticked-off as the characters did things that made me want to shake them. This is truly a journey in the life and love of Devon Sparks and Josephine Burnett.

The book starts off with a bang as Devon, finds himself the best-man in his best friend's wedding, which he should have been the groom of. Yes, you read that correctly but you will have to read the book to find out how it came to that and what Devon does in response.

The next interesting twist, is when Devon meets the heroine, Josephine Burnett, and discovers he is inexplicably drawn to her. Much to his chagrin since Devon admits that he is "Damaged goods". Yet, he is captivated by her. Dead set in his refusal to admit the attraction, Devon comes off as cold and heartless until he faces up to the fact that there is something between them.

The air crackles with electricity whenever they are alone. Josephine's life, however, is not without drama, her abusive boyfriend has a deep secret he is avoiding to share, and makes it plain to everyone else except Josephine…until it is too late. Emotionally destroyed, she locks her heart and feelings away, until Devon walks in and tries to rescue her, and himself. Together they try to rebuild their shattered existences, forming a connection which is fiery and sizzling.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. The plot hooks you in, the characters are believable, the storyline flows and the language, well let’s just say the language is not for the faint of heart. I found the story very engaging, and enlivening. Designing Love, definitely delivers. I would recommend this one to those who are fans of interracial erotic fiction.

In a world without hope that kills what it can't understand, a solitary priest who has lost all he ever loved may be the last man to still believe in Angels. In the end, his belief may be all that can safeguard the fate of two Angel lovers—and restore his own faith in the power of love.

Can two angels in love help restore faith and love to a world that’s lost hope? A single priest is struggling to keep faith and belief in a world that is teetering on destruction. When violence and torture reign, a priest keeps the cemetery and church as safe ground for the angels left on earth. When two angels in love need the priest’s help, his own despair and strength are tested.

This short story is incredibly powerful and moving. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the single priest is not given a name until the very end. He struggles as the one person left with hope, faith, and love yet he has his own darkness. After losing his brother and his lover, the priest feels alone in a world gone mad. People are torturing and killing the angels out of fear, anger, and hatred. Their violence touches the priest but he’s so lost in his own despair and pain that he doesn’t think he can help. The violence and torture are all off page but the intensity of emotion and the setting come through incredibly well.

The story could be dark and depressing, as the world is empty, harsh, and desolate, but there are threads of hope and love woven throughout that lighten the story. There is the little girl in a red coat that experiences curiosity, compassion, and eventually hope and belief of her own. There are the two angels in love, whose love is tested and near broken but ultimately saved. Even the priest himself experiences a revelation after all he’s been through. The story is about the uplifting nature of belief and hope at the darkest times, yet never feels religious or preachy. It’s really human nature and written so beautifully it can’t help but move you.

A crippling knee injury forced Elliot Mills to trade in his FBI badge for dusty chalkboards and bored college students. Now a history professor at Puget Sound university, the former agent has put his old life behind him—but it seems his old life isn't finished with him.

A young man has gone missing from campus—and as a favor to a family friend, Elliot agrees to do a little sniffing around. His investigations bring him face-to-face with his former lover, Tucker Lance, the special agent handling the case.

Things ended badly with Tucker, and neither man is ready to back down on the fight that drove them apart. But they have to figure out a way to move beyond their past and work together as more men go missing and Elliot becomes the target in a killer's obsessive game...

Fair Game by Josh Lanyon is a finely crafted mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end who the killer is, but most important, if Elliot and Tucker will live happily ever after.

Elliot Mills does not realize how much he misses his past life as an FBI agent until he agrees to help a family friend find his missing son. His investigation finds him working with ex-lover Tucker Lance, and he discovers their relationship is far from over. As Elliot finds himself in the crosshairs of the killer and in protective custody, he and Tucker are finally forced to take a closer look at what drove them apart.

Fair Game is more than a fast paced mystery. It is a journey of self-discovery for Elliot as he reconciles himself to his new life as a college professor and as he works to resolve his relationship with Tucker.

The past relationship between Elliot and Tucker was intense and short-lived due to his injury, recovery, and subsequent departure from the FBI. It was apparent they had many unresolved issues, and Mr. Lanyon does not rush their reconciliation. Surprisingly enough, Tucker is the one who opens up and takes those first crucial steps toward salvaging their relationship. While Elliot has excellent social skills for handling superficial relationships, he often finds himself at a loss in dealing with the deeper relationships with Tucker and to some extent, his father, Roland. When he finds himself in danger of losing both relationships, he does not hesitate to take a hard look at himself and work to fix what is broken.

Mr. Lanyon’s characters are exceptionally well-developed, realistic, and three dimensional. Some of the best scenes in Fair Game are between Elliot and Roland. The two men are polar opposites and many of their interactions are laugh out loud funny. The glimpses into the academic life of a college professor are interesting and accurate. While there are plenty of suspects to choose from, Mr. Lanyon keeps the killer under wraps until the end, and the reader and Elliot piece it together at the same time.

Fair Game by Josh Lanyon is a delightful mix of mystery, love, and humor. This is my first Josh Lanyon book but I can guarantee it will not be my last.

Maryam James is a hard taskmaster. A balls-to-the-walls type of woman who started her company with nothing more than a strong idea and a loan and turned it into one of the Top Fortune 500 companies in America. There’s only one person she trusts implicitly and that’s her personal assistant Xavier Sun, who, much to her dismay, has just turned in his resignation.

Maryam is the one woman Xavier can’t live without. She may be in command in the boardroom, but he's in control in the bedroom, and if he learned anything from being by her side for the last seven years it was Maryam doesn’t know how to take ‘no’ for an answer. So it’s no surprise to him she basically forbids him to quit. Leaving is the last thing on Xavier mind, however. He’s willing to put his job on the line, if it will get Maryam to realize the depths of her feelings for him.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! Okay, now that I got that out of the way, let me tell you why.

The Good, the Bad, and the Naughty is a quick read. However for a short story, Ms. Matthews does a good job of drawing the reader into the characters. She makes every word count! I found the love story between Maryam and Xavier to be believable, especially since both these characters have a history with each other as best friends and trusted co-workers. I liked Xavier's attempts to get Maryam to see him for who he really is, not an assistant to her, but the right man to be in her life, by her side.

I really like Xavier's character because he is different from most alpha heroes in that he is extremely tender and responsive to every detail that surrounds Maryam. He knows his woman inside out and that quality makes him extremely appealing as he wages his war to win Maryam's heart. This book doesn't go into detail about inter-racial relationships. I also thought the physical descriptions of the characters were very well done.

The writing is solid and the love scenes were pretty steamy, but most of all believable! I wanted this story to go on, but not because Ms. Matthews leaves you hanging as a reader, I just didn’t want the story to end.

Again, I really enjoyed this story. The Good, the Bad, and the Naughty is one that you will want to read over and over again. As a matter of fact, I already have. This is one book you don’t want to miss.

Caleb Marsh won't give up his island home or the woman he aches to possess without a fight.

The most powerful sorcerer on the east coast needed a safe place to hide his daughter from his enemies. Who knew pirate ghosts could be so sexy? Miranda is forced to stay on an island by her father, but little did she know it was the best thing he would ever do for her. Not only does she have a ghostly pirate who loves to do very naughty things to her... Miranda secretly lusts after the islands owner, Caleb, who was cursed by her father.

Caleb is supposed to hate the daughter of the one who has plagued his existence. But the beautiful creature is more then he bargained for and he can't resist. Now the man he once was is in a battle with the man he wants and needs to be. With the help of both Miranda and their lover Anders, he discovers all the things he has been missing and wants to keep forever.

This book has some really sexy, steamy scenes, but enough plot to make it oh so enjoyable. I love Anders, I would gladly be haunted if he was my friendly ghost. Miranda is one very lucky lady to have both him and Caleb. Caleb is such a wonderful character, I loved watching his journey to change and become himself.

Once I started reading this book I eagerly awaited what would come next. The characters pulled me in and held me in a limbo for the entire story. The plot was excellent and well worth the read. Oh, and did I mention the sex, it was absolutely steamy. This book is well worth the read.

Laila is dead set against dating her boss because she really needs the job. I enjoyed the premise of Laila’s character. I think she is one that many readers may be able to relate to for she is struggling yet independent heroine.

Morgan is the kind sort of hero who knows what he wants and that happens to be Laila. Yet, when she refuses to date him he shows a side that makes you want to slap him on one hand and kiss on the other.

I enjoyed this book and chose to review it because I have enjoyed some of Ms. Chailyn’s other stories. Laila, My Love didn’t disappoint. The characters are believable and the storyline is enduring. I would definitely recommend this book.

Using her Internet friend to fulfill sexual fantasies isn't a problem -- until Raen meets him in person. Her desires deepen the feelings she's always had for Dru, and now nothing will do except capturing him and making him hers.

The Dragon Kin books are a fun series to read.

Raen has an active social life--if you count the Internet and her sexual fantasies about her online friend, dragon shifter cowboy Dru. But she’s been burned by love, and fantasies are all she has, until she meets her cowboy in the flesh.

When Dru meets Raen in the bar where she works, he has no idea she’s his online friend, but he does realize right away that she is his souler, his mate. The one woman he can’t live without. But Raen has a poor self-image and can’t believe a hunk like Dru would look twice at a woman like her. Can Dru convince Raen he is truly interested in her? Will these two find what they both need in this relationship?

I enjoy the mystical island where all manner of paranormal beings mix with humans in their daily life. The characters in this book were an interesting couple. Raen is a woman who was hurt by her ex-husband’s indifference and infidelity, and has very little self-confidence about her attractiveness to men. When she first meets Dru, for example, she believes he is trying to win a bet by talking to her. But I love that she takes a chance anyway, putting her best foot forward to give this relationship a fighting chance. Dru is such a sweetheart; once he realizes that she is “the one”, he is determined to make her feel special. I enjoyed the spunkiness Raen displayed, although at times I found her a bit too self-deprecating and sarcastic.

The scene at her car is hot, and the sex in this is definitely smoking. My one regret is that this one ends with a happy for now, not a complete closure. I do hope we revisit this couple for more in the future.

passionate education leads to dangerous love.

For Claire Montjoye, widowhood is no release from scandal. Used as sexual currency by her notoriously libertine husband, she longs for a life of quiet respectability. But the ton’s disapproval ensures she will never be truly accepted—and any man openly seeking her company will be tainted.

When Xavier Westbourne pulls her away from peril, his touch fills her with yearning for unattainable dreams. Accepting his invitation to the opera is not only unwise for him, it’s dangerous to her lonely heart. Perhaps taking him as a lover will be enough.

Scion of one of Society’s most upright families, Xavier knows propriety as a cold, brutal master. Having endured one loveless marriage, he refuses to repeat the mistake, even for his motherless son. Yet Claire easily breaks through his wall of reserve, and her offer of private instruction in the sexual arts is irresistible.

Consumed by passion, overwhelmed by ecstasy, they discover something neither thought existed—the freedom to open their hearts. Yet not all the horrors of the past are content to remain hidden by the mists of time. And suddenly their very survival depends on trusting that love really can conquer all.

When I read the blurb for Breaking Free, I was intrigued. The concept of a widow who experienced a very sexual lifestyle at the hands of her libertine husband was compelling, but when combined with her romance with a man who recently lost his wife and had yet to experience the full throes of passion, I couldn’t resist. As I became immersed in the story, I discovered there is far more to the book than you’re given on the surface. Claire, while somewhat emotionally fragile, is also incredibly strong. This is important because Xavier is bruised by events in his past and needs the confidence that Claire possesses to help him move past a loveless marriage that nearly ruined him for women. Their chemistry is only surpassed by their intense need to connect with another person, to experience what they have long been denied, and their personal growth, as well as the strength of their bond as the story progresses, is a joy to witness.

As much as I loved the sensual scenes that positively sizzled, I have to say I was equally drawn to the tender moments between the protagonists, as well as the darker scenes that are heartbreaking. Ms. Richards spends just the right amount of time developing her characters, so that you get to know and love them, including the ever important supporting cast. Each has flaws that are placed directly in front of you, so that you get to know the entire person versus the perfect hero, heroine, best friend, or villain that is so often found in erotic romance.

The writing itself is fantastic, and the book flows at a nice, steady pace. I thoroughly enjoyed Breaking Free and am eager to read more from Ms. Richards in the future. If you’re looking for a story that has as much heart as it does heat, this is one story you don’t want to miss.
