An all-expenses-paid trip to a BDSM town called Peckerwood in Washington turns into an erotic romance author's dream. Gabriella Torraine will be able to do all the research she needs for her erotic vampire stories, as well as learn about a lifestyle that has always secretly fascinated her.

Not all is what it seems in Peckerwood, but Mayor Dick is bound and determined to win over the submissive Gabby before he lets the carefully hidden secret out. Will Gabby trust, love, and believe him enough to remain in Peckerwood once she learns the truth?

This story was not what I thought it would be. From reading the blurb one would think that this book would be full of silly and campy writing but what you get is a story about love. When romance writer Gabriella finds herself in a town called Peckerwood with a Mayor named Dick she looses all her inhibitions. With just one touch from Dick she is lost. Having to decide whether or not she stays with Master Dick may change her life in more ways than she thinks.

I enjoyed Gabriella and feisty behavior. She is more than willing to try new things and push her limits in order to understand herself. Dick is a good man who finds himself fighting for love. The two are a cute couple and the banter that they share makes for a nice read. Watching Gabriella blossom was an interesting read. Just like Gabriella, I was drawn to many of the other members of this town and hope that they two will find their happy ever afters.

I liked the idea of the town Peckerwood itself and its inhabitants. They may be people who live the life of dominance and submission twenty-four hours a day but it is all based on love and that shines through in all that they do. Everyone cares deeply for each other and fights to keep everything and everyone safe.

I really enjoyed the carnival like celebration that the town has to show the subs that they are loved. It was fun seeing Gabriella enjoy herself so much and the scene where the men confess their love was very touching. Although some of Gabriella’s decisions seemed a bit rushed for me she does make them with the thoughts of her love for Dick in mind. The love that Dick has for Gabriella shows in everything he does. Especially when he must decide on how to tell her the truth about himself and what he and the town actually are.

I seemed to connect more with the secondary characters than the main ones. I really liked Dexter and would love to read his story. To Play Or Obey would be a nice start to a good series. I certainly hope that the rest of the town gets to find their happy ever afters.
