A touch of fire ignites a shocking murder….
From the moment Flayme Jansen looked into the slumberous green eyes of the sexy cowboy from Rimrock, Montana, she knew she was in trouble. What she didn’t know was his kind of trouble meant she’d be taken into custody and placed in a witness protection program for national security.
Duel Remington has a job to do and no matter how difficult the feisty redhead makes it, he’s determined to protect her. Even if it means facing long cold nights handcuffed to the woman whose life he’s trying to save.
In the dead of winter…One man. One woman. One assassin. All are Playing For Keeps!
“Holy crap! Who is he? The Marlboro man?,” Oh no “He’s a flippin’ spook”—this is what Flayme Jansen learns after she finds Duel Remingtons sleeping in a chair in one of the small alcoves of the CIA building. Little does she know that within twenty-four hours, her life will be turned upside down by an assassination gone wrong and the sexy cowboy is the only one standing between the assassin and her. When Duel Remington sees the sexy redhead in one of the CIA offices giving a co-worker hell, he fell in lust. The woman has fire to match her hair but little does he realize that the little hellcat may end up being the death of him, or his savior.
Mrs. Chelcee is an author that loves to toy and tease her readers in The Montana Men series. Just like all the books that have come before, this story kept me on the edge of my seat. Playing For Keeps takes up where Too Close to the Fire left off, bringing Duel Remington to the forefront of the plot. It also continues the ongoing tale of Dianna Remington and Taylor Spencer who are lost in the Austrian outback. On top of that the tale also follows Danger, Rafe, and Lacey's ordeal with a serial killer. The author also adds in a new twist to an old love affair between CIA agents Sam and Travis, and sets the scene for the next book staring Wild Remington and Jayla Ross.
I am totally amazed at how Mrs. Chelcee can keep up with all the details from not one or two high action plots but five without losing or confusing the reader. This is one of the best series I have read and I am eager for the next book to be released. Action-wise, Playing For Keeps will keep readers entertained and enthralled to the end because of the many surprising twists that they won’t see coming. Another thing I enjoyed were the closing stages to some of the leftover plots from the first three books.
This story is not a stand-alone. To get the full impact, understanding and enjoyment, I would recommend starting with book one. This whole series is magnificent and I have formed an attachment to all the characters in Playing for Keeps. I have become enmeshed in their joy, hopes, loves, and heartaches. Please be warned this series deals with a serial killer, assassins, and rape within the pages. I personally recommend this high-energy action packed tale and was unable to put it down until the end.
