Kajinek is a Lalatian Dominant who must feed on fear, pain, and sex for survival. Since leaving his homeworld, he hasn’t met a woman who could truly satisfy his needs.
Mercenary captain Saida Alexander needs a pilot for the most dangerous mission she’s ever undertaken. She chooses Kajinek, because he’s reputed to be the very best. She never suspects that he’ll awaken the submissive desires she’s ignored for years.
When Saida knocks on Kajinek’s door, he senses that she’s the partner he’s been looking for. He agrees to fly her ship under one condition; she must personally feed his darkest desires. Can Saida give in to what her body wants or will submitting sexually shatter the careful control she wields over the rest of her life?
Throw a Dominant Lalatian pilot and a genetically altered spaceship captain who is reluctant to submit together against the backdrop of a dangerous outer space mission, and the result is a steamy fast-paced romance with plenty to keep BDSM fans interested.
Kajinek, who comes from a race of people who are all born either dominant or submissive, falls deeply in lust with Saida from the minute she first knocks on his door to try to acquire his services as a pilot for a dangerous mission she has planned. Saida has a deep-seated need to submit which is immediately detected by Kaj but her commanding day-to-day role as captain of the Ascendent, added to her past experience with men who have seen her Assassin side and been put off, makes this difficult for her and she fights Kaj all the way whilst, at the same time, falling in love with him and craving what he can give her.
During a thrilling outer space battle Kaj has a chance to see her shift into full Assassin mode and, after a brief misunderstanding or two has been resolved, she discovers that he is very different from the other men she has been with and appreciates her for the strong woman she is. A part of the story I particularly enjoyed was the sentient personality of the spaceship Ascendent and the interaction between the ship and Kaj.
The story moves along very quickly, a bit too quickly for me as it felt a little rushed in places. Despite this, the main characters are well-realized and the relationship between them is mostly convincing. A word of warning, there is some very violent sex in this story. I didn’t find it offensive personally as it was fully consensual and mainly connected to the fact that neither Saida nor Kaj are human - both are far stronger and heal faster than ordinary humans - but some readers might find it objectionable.
If you enjoy your BDSM with a sci-fi theme, and like your heroes to be strong and your heroines stronger still, then Seduction of the Captain is well worth reading.
