Cassie Callington has finally met a man who makes her insides quiver, her heartbeat race and her body sizzle. And he barely even knows she’s alive. An enforcer for the Shadowpeak pack, Jay Chance is ripped, sexy, a complete and utter hunk. He’s also out of her league and chasing after another woman. Still, there’s no rule that says she can’t look, right?
Except one night she finds herself doing more than looking, she’s touching, tasting, licking…yum. But it was never meant to be. He’s a werewolf and attracted to someone else. She’s a human and on the next bus out of town. Nope, it would never work. But Jay sees things differently, and comes after her, using some very sensual techniques to persuade her to see things his way. And to taste them his way, and to touch…
Cassie has lusted after Jay but when she finds out it is no secret she runs from him and the safety of the pack. What does a werewolf do when his interest runs? Why chase her of course and that is just what Jay does. He is bound and determined to get Cassie to understand things his way. Can Jay return to the pack with Cassie by his side or will she fight him and loose her chance at a happy ever after?
I really loved Cassie and the way she stands up for herself and begins to come out of her shell. She is a strong woman who needed a bit of a push and it looks as if Jay is just the man to help her out with that. He is a great man who loves with all his heart and is more than willing to do what ever Cassie needs to make her understand and feel loved. As the story unfolds the lust between Jay and Cassie quickly turns into more. While the two work out their own problems we also get to meet new characters and see more of the pack, making this a very well rounded read that kept my attention to the end and has me wanting more.
Not only do we get Cassie and Jay’s story but we are also treated to many secondary characters that grab your attention like Dusty and Brynn. I enjoyed the interaction between all the characters and found myself liking Dusty and the friendship that develops between her and Cassie. This is the second book in this series and I would advise reading the first so that as the reader you understand the characters and their world much better. I hope that this series continues and we get to visit the pack again.
