One man is determined to claim her, the other is destined to love her.

Phantom River Alpha Jaryn Chaunterel is struggling to find a balance between his duties to his pack, his business, and orders from the American Shifter Council to solve the mystery of why wereshifters of all species are disappearing from around the country with little or no trace. He can’t help but feel that the long sleepless nights spent working might be more tolerable if he could share them with his mate. Of course, that would mean he’d have to find her first.

Nicole Holland is on the run from the wolf that kidnapped and held her hostage for over a year. The high school teacher wants nothing more than to disappear and start her life over, but it’s not easy when the one chasing you can scent your every move. Nicole pulls into Stonepass, Montana, in desperate need of money and a few hours of sleep. However, instead of anonymously slipping in and out of town, she finds herself face to face with another Alpha wolf, one whose liquid sliver eyes call to something deep inside her...even as he declares those words Nicole hoped to never hear again. "You are my mate".

Jaryn soon discovers that his newly found mate holds the key to his investigation, and he’s determined to not only bring this case to a close, but take revenge for what his mate suffered at the hands of her captor. Nicole realizes that Jaryn has strength to rescue those she left behind, and it isn’t long before she’s falling under the spell of the moon and comes to relish the feel of Jaryn’s strong arms surrounding her. Will the pair be able to stop a psychopath who’s bent on creating a race of super-shifters of which he will be commander in chief, or will the mad scientist have the last laugh?

Sexy and hot are the two words that come to mind when I think of this book. The Scent of Seduction is a hot read about shifters in the near future. This is an imaginative story with great details and an intriguing plot.

Jaryn Chaunterel is overworked and stressed out. Between his thriving business as an architect, alpha of the Phantom River Pack and his position with the American Shifter Council, he is stretched thin. One thing he'd like to do is relax on his back patio and enjoy nature, but what he wants most is to find his mate to share his life with.

Nicole Holland is on the run. Being forced into the world of the paranormal was not her idea of fun. Kidnapped, abused and missing time, she escapes and runs for her live. She runs fast and far from a sadistic wolf that says that he is her mate. During a quick stop to grab some cash and rest; she encounters another problem...her true mate.

In the summer of 2038 a few things have changed. Technology is a bit more advanced, cars are predominately electric and shifters have revealed themselves to humans. After some bumpy and rocky roads, shifters have integrated themselves and are welcomed members of society. There are even dating services for humans to find out if they are the destined mates of a shifter. Something is stirring though, something sinister and evil. Shifters are missing and the American Shifter Council (ASC) is determined to discover the reason why. Nicole just might be the link and the break they have been searching for. Jaryn is now tasked to find out the truth and claim his scared and reluctant mate.

The Scent of Seduction was a fun, sizzling and fascinating read. The book was not bogged down with sci-fi mumbo jumbo and flowed extremely well. The seduction of Nicole was delightful and sensual. It was a nice change of pace from the usual “Me Alpha – You Mate” chest beating caveman tendencies. The villain of the story was suitably evil and cruel and by the ending of the book, he still had an air of mystery about him. I am looking forward to reading more of his sinister ways and then his eventual demise. Ms. Lane had some wonderful and regrettable surprises awaiting me. I was filled with joy and yet saddened at the horror of the atrocities that she revealed. She did a spectacular job keeping me on the edge of my seat.

The Scent of Seduction is a wonderful start to what promises to be a fantastic series. Storytelling that is captivating and new. Welcome to the future of paranormal romance!
