Claire Layton expects the usual busy Saturday night at Harvest Bistro to be killer on her stilletto shod feet. She never imagines there’d be an actual murderer on the loose at her restaurant in rural Dry Creek, Nebraska. But when she discovers a customer dead in a dumpster, the killer demands she find the victim’s phone and flash drive or face fatal consequenses.

Jake Warrick, a cocky and mind-numbingly hot private investigator, becomes Claire’s unlikely ally in the search. Jake just wants to solve the case and get out of this hick town, but the diminutive and curvaceous Claire turns his plan upside down as they uncover a more complex crime than they ever imagined. The two bicker and banter like Tracy and Hepburn caught in a whirlwind of intense sexual attraction as they try to find the killer before it’s too late.

Dry Creek is one of those towns where people are friendly. Everyone knows each other and they look out for one another. Claire Layton makes her living with her restaurant Harvest. One particular night, however, Harvest in Dry Creek is NOT the place to be...when a body is found, murdered.

That's enough to shake up someone's ordinary world. It certainly did Claire's. Consider this spitfire scared, with great reason. It gets even worse with anonymous calls from someone Claire dubs 'The Voice of Doom'. Who is that exactly? That remains a mystery. Does it have anything to do with the dead body? That remains to be seen.

Then comes Jake Warrick. He's snarky, mysterious, and sexy. He gets Claire all hot and bothered. Jake isn't the enemy, even if he is trying to gather information. One thing we know about Jake right off the bat? He's not looking for love or to settle down. Isn't that the great thing about fate? What one may want, Fate has another plan. Despite Jake's best efforts, his feelings for Claire go beyond lust and sexual desire. His need to protect her is strong, though he still has a job to do.

The powerful attraction between the two creates plenty of tension and sizzling sexual energy. The plot is full of suspense, a bit of sarcasm, and sexy banter between Claire and Jake. There's a few small editing mishaps, but not enough to take my attention away from this captivating suspenseful tale. Readers will be pulled in on a wild goose chase, and I was guessing straight up until the end. The love scenes are erotic, but not over the top and not too many.

Up a Dry Creek is full of heat, mystery, and characters that are believable and likable (except for the villains, of course!) The story is wrapped up well, though there is a hint of things to come with another story with new characters. I hope so, because I would love to come back to Dry Creek and learn more about the people in this town.

If you're looking for a romantic suspense that will keep you riveted, then don't miss the chance to meet the townspeople of Dry Creek. Grab yourself a chair, and don't forget your copy of this story!

Jory Keyes leads a normal life as an architect’s assistant until he is witness to a brutal murder. Though initially saved by police Detective Sam Kage, Jory refuses protective custody—he has a life he loves that he won’t give up no matter who is after him. But Jory’s life is in real jeopardy, especially after he agrees to testify about what he saw.

While dealing with attempts on his life, well-meaning friends who want to see him happy, an overly protective boss, and a slowly unfolding mystery that is much more sinister than he could ever imagine, the young gay man finds himself getting involved with Sam, the conflicted and closeted detective. And though Jory may survive the danger, he may not survive a broken heart.

This is a lovely story that delves into the mind of a young gay man at the age of twenty-two. After witnessing an awful crime, Jory is in danger and must use all his smarts and skills to survive.

Jory Keyes is a force of nature and people are drawn to him. He will blow into your life, exceed your expectations and leave you wanting more in the wake of his destruction. He's a gorgeous man who is comfortable with who he is. His mother abandoned him as a baby to his grandmother, and then he lost his grandmother at the age of ten. Growing up in a group home, he came out a strong self sufficient man. After graduating high school he moved to Chicago, found a great job and then attended and graduated from college. He is a smart, resilient person, who because of his age seems to believe he is invincible and untouchable.

Detective Sam Kage is instantly drawn into Jory’s universe, a straight man attracted to a beautiful soul. Sam is 100% alpha male and he doesn’t cope well with his attraction to Jory and fights it all the way. He is tasked with the protection of Jory after he witnesses a cold blooded murder. There is now a price on Jory’s head and Sam is determined to keep him safe and alive. But is he shadowing Jory to protect him or just to be near him? These two polar opposites are thrust together due to circumstances but eventually unite due to attraction.

This book is written in the first person point of view. Reading a single point of view is a rarity for me and took some getting used to, but once I got into it, I actually enjoyed it tremendously. I was able to feel Jory’s emotions all the stronger and I enjoyed living vicariously through him. If I only had 10% of Jory’s life, I could die happy. Even though he has countless flings, he is surrounded by people that adore and care for him. His closest relationships are priceless and filled with devotion and love.

It’s been awhile since I’ve wanted to reread a book right away after finishing it. The writing was spot-on and the sexual encounters were written with heat but not explicitly, most were assumed after the fact. This book is very erotic, just on the lighter side with the descriptions of the sexual encounters. There was very little predictability in the plot, but the issues that were predictable had surprising conclusions that had me in awe. The supporting cast is extremely relatable and I loved Jory’s relationship with his boss Dane. I sure hope that in the next volume I can see Dane, a serial dater, be taken down by an exceptional woman. If not, I would definitely enjoy a book about him.

The ending of volume one is abrupt, but it does seem to be good ending location. You feel you are on the cusp of another great adventure. You end it wanting the next volume immediately. A Matter of Time – Volume One is a sensual read with the addition of adventure and intrigue. The emotions are well written and the characters become your friends and family. I totally enjoyed my journey into the mind of Jory Keyes and I can see myself visiting it again in the future.

When Charlie Danvers finds Luka, a beautiful scarred man with silken black hair and feral green eyes, naked and freezing in an April snowstorm, he takes him home to his lonely cabin, unaware the man who can’t sleep in a bed or use cutlery is far more than he seems.

Wolf-shifter Luka is dying. He survived captivity and abuse from the brutal pack that killed his family, holding out because of dreams of a man with big, gentle hands. When Charlie Danvers finds a beautiful scarred man with long silken black hair and feral green eyes, naked and freezing in an April snowstorm, he takes him home to his lonely cabin and will do anything to heal him.

At first, Luka is afraid, even of Charlie. He has nightmares and can’t sleep in a bed like a normal person and he can’t even figure out how to use a knife and fork at Charlie’s table. But Charlie’s patience is rewarded as Luka slowly comes out of his shattered pain, helping Charlie take care of the other wounded creatures on his nature reserve.

Love can blossom even when all hopes seems lost and for Charlie and Luka it’s their hope and strength that lead them to a love worth fighting for. This is the fourth installment of Jan Irving’s Uncommon Cowboys series and she takes the readers on a journey through the darkest actions suffered upon a person and the struggles they go through to overcome their fears.

Luka is a werewolf on the run from an abusive pack. My heart wept for this character. The things this young shifter had suffered through would have broken most people but it’s his faith in his dreams of a man, a man he calls the healer, that keep him going. Through the pages of Wounded Cowboy I get to see Luka grow, become stronger, and start to believe in himself all from the love of a gentle man.

Charlie, like Luka, is standoffish but for different reasons. Charlie is a man who is a loner; he likes to be around people but prefers the sanctuary of his animal preserve on his quiet mountain. When Charlie is first introduced he’s the strong one, taking care of Luka and helping the man he found in the snow. But further in the story their roles change and Luka becomes the assertive, aggressive one and Charlie the submissive. The author did a good job describing Charlie’s attraction to Luka and his need to loved and dominated by Luka. The sexual encounters between Luka and Charlie are definitely a toe curler.

In all great love stories trouble doesn’t linger far behind. The pack that held Luka captive comes looking for him and when push comes to shove, Luka shines and dominates. The love of a mate is a powerful thing and in this story the reader is taken step by step of Luka’s transition from being the scared abused wolf to a powerful man, willing to do all it takes to keep his mate and pack safe.

The one thing in this story that bothered me was the way Luka was a constant contradiction to himself. He was abused and assaulted for over half his life and one minute he would be against anything sexual. He proclaimed it was ugly but then in the next instant he was all over Charlie and wanting him sexually. This was an occurrence that happened more than once in the book. I felt it hard to believe that this character who had suffered so much could so easily change his mind so quickly in regards to something he felt so strongly about.

This book is fourth in the series and could be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading the first three beforehand. References are made to previous characters and it helps explains some things stated in this book becaues it gives the reader a better clarification for some of the tension between characters.

Overall I found Wounded Cowboy an entertaining fast paced read. I’m a fan of Mrs. Irving’s work and would recommend her to all readers.

Jason doesn’t know what possessed him to give Jennifer his great-grandmother’s locket. She dumped him the second he mentioned marriage, and refuses to return the family heirloom. Desperate, he tests his amateur thieving skills when Jennifer goes out of town—and finds himself at the business end of a gun wielded by a gorgeous stranger. Jennifer’s new roommate reluctantly helps Jason cover up his bungled burglary. New plan—seduce the roommate into helping him steal the locket.

Alison suspects Jason is just using her, but that’s fine. She has her own agenda, which involves using her roommate’s studly ex for a little fun between the sheets. Casual sex turns into dating, and the more Alison falls for Jason, the more she wants to rip that locket off her undeserving roommate’s scrawny neck!

Soon a risky plan emerges, one that could gain them the locket…but cause them to lose something far more precious.

If you enjoy reading a story that’s light, funny, but still has great chemistry, tension and enough twists to keep you engaged than this is the story for you. For the reader that wants a little bit of everything from a book, thievery, sexual tension, blackmail, emotions, and buck shot than Susan Ashworthy’s works are something to keep in mind when looking for a new book to read.

The three main characters, Jason, Alison and Jennifer are all after something different from each other and as the story progresses hearts are broken and united in the search of love, happiness, and a family heirloom. This book felt almost like a story that someone would say about a friend of a friend who once had something funny happen to them, and the novelty of the idea was good and certainly made the reading of it enjoyable but it wasn’t something that I could see happening in real life without real consequences.

Jason Douglas, the male lead, only wants what is his back from his ex-girlfriend, Jennifer, and in exchange ends up falling for her new roommate Alison. Though their relationship was initially forged as a way of helping one another to reach an ultimate goal, hearts get involved and even with gun shots and NASCAR faux pas love blooms between him and Alison.

This is a cute story that kept me enthralled the entire time and I had a very hard time putting it down until I saw how it ended, even though HEAs are common in the romance field this one kept you guessing until the end if it was going to happen or not. Susan Ashworthy is an author to watch out for, her wit and way with words will take her far and gather a following quickly.

Helene Cosgrove’s only passion is her art, until she is betrothed to a respectable baron. Believing he will be the love of her life, she’s crushed when her father ends the engagement. Helene is approached by a second suitor, the wicked Lord Redding, Edward Chase. She is duty-bound to marry the scoundrel even though she despises him.

Redding happily snatches his rival’s betrothed and finds himself married to a woman of outstanding talents, utter radiance and innocent sexuality. Her haughty and summary rejection of him only spurs his desire to have her, and prove he’s as worthy of her love as her former swain. And what better way than to tutor her in his bed?

Helene is tempted by Redding in all the wrong ways. When he delivers her secret desires, she must reconcile her heart to the matter—deciding whether she loves Redding for who he is or for what he can do for her, in and out of the marriage bed.

If the idea of star crossed lovers being destined together yet not really knowing it until they almost tear each other apart appeals to you than this is the story for you. These two, Helene and Edward, feel like their marriage is one of obligation not of love, but they can’t seem to get enough of each other. As the days get longer and the passion drives the stakes higher they just might realize that they already found what they were looking for... they just didn’t see it was right in front of them.

Helene was supposed to marry another until a scandal makes her father decide the wedding is off and he takes the next man to offer for her, Edward Chase, Earl of Redding. According to everyone who is anyone (and that includes Helene’s innocent ears) Edward is quite wicked; he is even dubbed the Wicked Earl of Redding. Nothing is out of limits for him according to the rumor mill and this is just not acceptable to Helene, she can’t stand him and cannot wait to get her wifely duties done and over with so she can be left to a life apart from him.

Edward is a man of the rumors, and he doesn’t mind that others know about his past exploits, but they are just that... past. His marrying Helene is the exact opposite of what others would expect of him since his motto is “I love the chase, many women have tried to catch him yet no one has succeeded yet”. But meeting Helene and asking for her hand might be just the thing to bring some good to his tarnished name. If he happens to have feelings for her those will soon turn to boredom….or will they?

I was quite surprised by this book, it wasn't what I expected. It was very well written and stayed true to the time period with references of things happening in the background of this love story. Edward and Helene’s story starts out rocky and doesn’t get any better until they learn to trust each other and be willing to open up to the other, only then do they start to let their feelings grow.

Overall this was a great story with wonderful characters and a healthy dose of sex that definitely kept me wanting more until the last page.

Beth is the shy, dreamy type. No one guesses at the wild sexual thoughts she hides behind that quiet façade. She doesn’t even share her secret longings with her husband.

Gavin loves his wife, but he’s tired of living in a marriage in which neither he nor Beth reveal their true desires. When Gavin sees Beth’s response to an erotic bondage photo in her framing shop, he jumps at the opportunity to break through her barriers.

He accepts an invitation to a showcase match for the amateur hockey team he coaches during Wild Nights, an infamous winter festival during which “anything goes, nothing counts”. But he’s opened a sensual Pandora’s box—Beth has some surprises of her own. When she meets Eagle, a free-spirited Wild resident, she knows he’s the perfect man to help enact her erotic fantasies. And once they go deep, there’s no going back.

I really liked the idea of this book. A woman sees a photograph and becomes enamored with it to the point of distraction. Her husband finds her response as something to investigate. Gavin and Beth are a happily married couple. Yet she has always been taught by her mother to hold everything inside but now years after her mothers passing Gavin is done waiting. He is tired of holding back and he wants to see the real woman behind Beth’s façade. When Gavin sees Beth’s reaction to the photo he comes up with a plan to bring her out. Has Gavin pushed too hard or will he unleash the real Beth?

The love that Gavin and Beth have is a deep one and it only gets stronger as the story progresses. It was nice to see two people who have been together for sometime find themselves and discover who their partners really are. I enjoyed watching Beth come out of her cocoon. Once she embraces her sexuality there is no stopping her. My only complaint was how naïve Beth seems to be. She takes things to the extreme when it comes to sex and her sexuality. Her mother has drummed the idea of how bad it is into her head so much that Beth has lost her own self. It made some of Beth’s actions come off as childish and annoying at times. I understand that this is the point to the story but some of it was a bit too much for me.

Although I may not have connected with Beth, I did enjoy this story. Gavin is a great alpha male who wears his heart on his sleeve when it concerns Beth, and Eagle is a wonderful addition that I hope to see again in another book. This author is a great storyteller and brought me into Gavin and Beth’s world right from the first page. This book is a nice read about a young woman finding herself and taking the courage to embrace her sexuality.

But that quickly turns into a series of lusty hook-ups that neither can resist.

Smokie is a wolf shapeshifter, so he knows the scorching sex with a human isn’t going to lead to anything more. Besides, Olivia insists it’s just a fling—no more relationships for her. Then a mystical seer declares they are true mates.

Smokie thinks he’s too young to settle down and Olivia thinks hot sex does not equal love. These two are about to discover just how pleasurable being stuck with each other for life can be.

Where there’s smoke there’s fire, right? How about a smoking hot fireman and a sexy older lady? This story isn’t just about a handsome hunk of a man but a wolf in disguise. The author jumps right into a steamy, sexy, panty-wetting sex scene and continues that heat as it goes on throughout the book. As I got to know the characters in the story, I also figured out the plot as the storyline is slightly hidden within the sex scenes.

The author has some time sequence issues that will lose the non attentive or easily distracted reader but the book overall was an easy read. As it progresses, the plot and the characters become clearer and I really enjoyed the second half of the book more so than the first.

The author hooked me initially with the sex scenes then lost me in the time jumping sequences. The writing pulled me back into the book to end on a strong point.

Fire Wolf was hot and sexy from the first sentence to the very last one. Just a suggestion: if you are reading this make sure you have a way to cool off, because you're going to need it.

When Callie Davis stumbles upon two of her three male roommates in a surprising, molten-hot midnight tryst, she discovers a side of herself she never knew existed. Desire to play with them grips her, and she can’t stop fantasizing about having multiple men, particularly her three long-time best friends.

Callie is thrilled when a guys’ night out gives her the perfect opportunity to recreate her fantasy—with the help of a threesome porn video and a bag of sex toys. That is until Lucas, Jack, and Noah return early and catch her in the act. More than anything, the guys want to make her fantasy come true. But Callie has a secret, and she can’t help wondering if being with all three men will risk the future she’s always wanted with one of them.

As three strong sets of hands caress and undress her, Callie surrenders to desire, because sometimes you just gotta say…yes.

If you like the idea of finding love in all the wrong places, with three gorgeous men who would do anything for you, and unbelievably hot sex with all three of them, than this is the book for you. With men like these for roommates who needs to go anywhere else for all your loving needs?

Dana is every guy's dream girl. She is funny, honest, caring and it doesn’t hurt that she is incredibly hot. But she has a secret, and the one time that she wants to indulge her little secret while no one is at home she is caught red handed to say the least. But instead of utter humiliation she finds out that her roommates are the men that she always thought they were, and they were perfect for her in every way.

Lucas is scarred, and doesn’t have a problem pushing people away because of it. After two years in Iraq he knew he had the right to do what he wanted since no one understood just what he had been through…except Callie. Without even talking she knew, and when his attitude got in her way she knew just how to cut him down to size without ending their friendship. Lucas has been falling in love with Callie since that first day in study group for their biology midterm in college. But will his love be enough, or is he forever in the “friend zone”?

Jack is bi, and has no problem with it, he just doesn’t really talk about it with his roommates, which is a shame since Noah is too. Once Jack finds out, he has no problem taking what should have been his long ago….Noah. The ball for this story actually started to roll when Callie watched these two have passionate sex one night and she just couldn’t get the image out of her head. It was the hottest thing she had ever seen and something she desperately wanted to see more of.

Even though this story is short, it definitely packs a punch. This is definitely an author I am going to be on the lookout for when I make my next shopping trip for books. Laura Kaye made the reading fun and steamy while still being realistic. Amazing read!

Alison Bennett came to Desire, Oklahoma to hide—and to heal.

When her truck breaks down on the way into town, she certainly doesn't expect men like Dillon Tanner and Ryder Hayes to come to her rescue.

Extraordinary men in an extraordinary town.

Their interest in her both excites and alarms her, but she knows they’re both way out of her league.

When an attack on the club brings a halt to the seminar she’s signed up for, Dillon and Ryder’s proposition to continue her lessons intrigues her. Dillon’s gentleness tempts her to put herself in his hands while Ryder’s wildness and apparent dislike for her makes her uneasy.

Under their guidance, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, one that teaches her decadent pleasures and raw desire.

And love.

Knowing a ménage relationship could never work, she still finds herself tempted to stay.

But fate, and her ex-boyfriend, have other plans.

Alison breaks down on the road into Desire, OK with a painful past and an even more broken spirit. In Desire, she hopes for a haven in which to recoup, time to make a plan, and a chance to rebuild her self-esteem. She gets all that plus more than she bargains for when she catches the eye of garage owners and best friends, Dillon Tanner and Ryder Hayes.

Life in Desire is far from typical small town, USA. Thanks to a prequel to the current Desire series we know that the town was literally founded by two men and a woman who wanted a place to live together as a family, without scorn or prejudice. Those same founding father’s set the standard for accepting a new definition of traditional family with an old fashioned idea of protecting their own. In Desire, the men are strong but the women are their strength.

Dillon, Ryder and Alison are a prime example of how the right woman (or man) can change a person’s perspective and give them a reason to believe in happily ever afters. On the surface the story seems to be primarily about Alison needing help and healing. As the story progresses and we get more information about Ryder I think you’ll agree that he needed someone with Alison’s tenacious personality and quick temper as well as her acceptance of him to prove that true love isn’t something that just happens to other people.

As far as I know, Ms. Brooke never worked as a writer for the show 24. But she could have! This story moves at such a quick smooth pace you’re a little over a hundred pages in when you realize it’s still Alison’s first day in town and you’re nearly to the half way mark before the sex gets serious. Ms. Brooke builds tension and excitement into her relationships. If you’re looking for a quick SLAM BAM sex at first sight this isn’t the book for you. But if, instead, you enjoy the flirting glances, teasing touches and slow burn to ecstasy then this probably isn’t your first trip to Desire and even if it is it certainly won’t be your last!

There are still so many stories left to tell in Desire and I, along with an ever growing fan base, are waiting patiently (sometimes not so patiently) to read Beau and Charity’s story along with Hunter, Remington, Michael, Brandon, Lucas, Devlin, Caleb…and about a half a dozen or more. The mark of a brilliant series and a truly talented storyteller is when the characters speak to the readers almost as much as they speak to the author. Ms. Brooke is that talented of a writer and her unique stories and the fantastical town they live in come alive in the pages of this book as well as the six (including the prequel) that preceded it.

It’s not too late to jump on the band wagon to Desire. Once you get here, don’t be surprised when you find yourself wanting to put down roots.

Keisha loves her buff, gorgeous sex slave. It is the ultimate erotic gratification—having such a strong, intimidating man completely at her sexual command.

Then a health crisis forces them to make a temporary switch. The sex slave becomes the Master. Keisha is totally out of her element and they both wonder how they can ever really go back to that perfect love.

In this book we meet Keisha and Matt, a happy couple living the BDSM lifestyle. In their lives, Matt is the slave and Keisha is the Mistress but when a crisis strikes their roles must be reversed. Can Matt get Keisha to let him take the reins or will he end up loosing her?

The plot to this book is a common problem facing many women today and it is killing Keisha. As Matt tries to help Keisha he must take over her role until she is well enough to be the Mistress she was before. I really liked Matt. He is a big strong man who has had a hard life and feels the need and enjoys a different kind of sex life. His love for Keisha is so strong I could practically feel it and Keisha's love is just as strong. I enjoyed the way they used this love to help each other through it all. No matter what happened they knew that their love was always something that could be counted on. It was also nice to see Matt realize that he must help himself as well as help Keisha and he finds a way to do just that.

The love between Matt and Keisha shows throughout this book and makes for a wonderful read. We not only get a hot tale but this book also shows us a great relationship between two wonderful people and how they work together to fix what is wrong.

The characters in this book are full of depth and strong emotions, making this a book that should not be missed. This is book four in this series and even though you can read it as a standalone it would be better to read the previous books in this series to better understand the world of the Rebels and the people in it. This book was a great read and I cannot wait to see which Rebel will get his story told next.
