It’s all in good, dirty fun…until the heart raises the stakes.

Magical Sisters, Book 2

Meg Tristan is spontaneous, spirited, outspoken and beautiful—and she enjoys every second of it. She can have any man she wants, with or without casting a spell. Too bad she hasn’t found one who can keep up with her non-magical sex drive, much less handle her hexual prowess.

When he’s not caring for his patients, Dr. Chance Dannigan spends his off hours getting acquainted with as many women as he can in his new town. None hold his attention—until he catches Meg’s flirtatious glance across the bar. One drink later, he’s sure he’s found the one woman who can stimulate both his heads.

Sensing a kindred spirit, he challenges Meg to a daring competition. Each must choose a random partner for the other, and the one who fails to seduce the target, loses. And to keep it honest? The opponent must witness the act.

Winning each round proves almost too easy. The ultimate challenge is figuring out how to handle their unexpected attraction to each other…and how to end the game without both of them coming out losers.

When an irresistible force meets an immovable object, the results could turn out to be sinfully delightful. Especially if the irresistible force is a sexy and beautiful witch, and the immovable object is the hot new doctor in town.

Meg Tristan is beautiful and can get any man she wants, but she is also bored. She wants what her younger sister has found; love with one man she can give her heart to, one she can be with on more than just the sexual level.

New doctor in town, Chance Dannigan, is attracted to Meg the moment he meets her, but realizes he has to be very different than the men Meg is used to. When he challenges her to a dare, Meg’s pride refuses to let her lose. The challenge: each of them must seduce someone chosen by the other, while being watched by that person to ensure that everything is fair and square. The first one who doesn’t succeed in the challenge has to publicly declare the winner is able to get any lover at any time.

What they don’t count on is falling in love…with each other. Meg is determined to win at any cost, without using magic, but as she begins to realize how she feels for Chance, can she continue or will she lose Chance forever? When Chance discovers his feelings, can he convince Meg to end the challenge before it goes to far? Or will they lose their one opportunity for a love that will last for all their lives?

Sex With a Hex is the second of Beverly Rae’s Magical Sisters series, and I enjoyed returning to this imaginative and well-crafted world. Ms. Rae’s characters are as real as your nextdoor neighbors, with faults and insecurities just like everyone. I like Meg and Chance, and loved the way they tried to one-up each other at every turn. There is a depth to the characters, and I enjoyed watching as each layer of personality was revealed.

Meg Tristan is gorgeous, sexy and bored with her life. She is smart, and determined to get what she wants. The trouble is, she isn’t sure how to find it. She envies her younger sister Allie for finding the man of her dreams, and true love. She is convinced that there is no one man for her, but she is growing more dissatisfied with playing the field. I enjoyed watching as Meg began to realize what was missing in all the brief relationships she had: there was nothing to hold her attention after the initial encounter. Watching Meg as she finally grows up is a treat.

Dr. Chance Dannigan is the new man in town. He is attracted to Meg instantly, but as an intelligent and determined man, he knows instinctively that he has to treat her as if he isn’t, and challenge her interest and intelligence more than those before her have done. I loved watching Chance as he began to realize what he’s done, and I liked seeing the other side of him as well: the caring and generous doctor who spends his off time visiting elderly residents at the local nursing home.

This is a wild and crazy fun ride of a romance, with the escalation of passionate encounters pushing boundaries for both the good doctor and the sexy witch.

The secondary characters are all captivating as well, especially the dates that Meg and Chance have to arrange for each other. None of the candidates are what they appear to be from the supposedly virginal lady pharmacist to the innocent bystander jogger, who isn’t so innocent after all.

I enjoyed catching up with Meg’s family as well. Sister Allie, the former succubus is now a happily married and very pregnant normal woman, and shape shifting Hilly is still the protective and sensible older sister trying to keep things from getting out of hand.

Do Meg and Chance find a way to settle the challenge before they both get hurt? You’ll have to read Sex With a Hex to find out. But one warning, be prepared to laugh at the antics, and keep the fan on high.
