When struggling waitress Melody Dylan gives a handsome, lonely stranger a simple gift she has no clue her life is about to take a drastic turn.

The stranger ends up being Clay Powers, a famous UFC heavyweight fighter. Clay’s large build and dangerous fists have always intimidated. People in his hometown keep their distance and Clay is fine with that. Everything changes when a new waitress at the local diner buys him a piece of pie on Thanksgiving. Touched by the gesture when it’s obvious she can barely afford to survive, her warm smile and lush body churn up powerful feelings that leave Clay wanting more from her than pie.

Melody is running from her past and the small, country town of Garnet is the perfect hiding place. With an ex-husband after her and scars from her abusive marriage etched deep, the last thing she expects is to fall for a man who makes a living with his fists, but she can’t resist Clay or the tender connection they share.

Finding love in the most unlikely of places, the passion is undeniable, but Clay and Melody know their haunted pasts and unpredictable futures leave the odds stacked against them.

Sometimes all it takes is a piece of pumpkin pie to change your life.

Melody Dylan feels broken. After escaping a life of spousal abuse, trouble now follows in her wake as she settles in to the small town of Garnet, Ohio. She’s had to stay on the run from an ex-husband who is obsessed with possessing her. She never thought she would find another man appealing again, but one look at the big and gruff Clay has her feeling things she’s never felt before. It’s getting harder to resist the attraction she feels but when the past once again rears its ugly head, taking a chance with Clay may no longer be an option.

Clay ‘Powerhouse’ Powers lives and breathes MMA fighting. He believes it to be an art and has trained relentlessly to hone his skills to become a professional cage fighter. Being with Melody makes the media circus surrounding the sport more bearable. Melody understands him in a way no one else can and doesn’t want anything from him in return.

Clay and Melody are similar in that both are fighters and survivors of personal battles. They understand each other. Melody exudes innocence from living a somewhat sheltered life and Clay hides a tender heart underneath the bulk of his physique. There were some truly charming moments between the pair. When she and Clay get together, Melody doesn’t allow her lack of experience keep her from exploring her own sexual desires without fear or force.

There were a few times when the dialogue seemed to lag or feel a little awkward. Specifically, when Melody reveals her abusive past so early in their developing relationship, it just didn’t seem to fit her reserved "I'm on the run from my ex" character. Clay and Melody share a good connection, so maybe she simply felt more comfortable with him then I perceived. Either way it wasn't a deal breaker for this terrific book. I had to know how they would overcome the major obstacle headed their way.

There is much more to explore with the characters of this charming town and I am excited to see that it will continue. Ms. Moon’s sweet and spicy contemporary is absolutely worth the read and will make a wonderful addition to any erotic romance reader’s collection.
