Tom works as a bouncer in a gay club, but he's not gay.
Or so he claims, until gorgeous male model Andre needs his protection.
Tom tries to hold back but he can't deny his desire for Andre.
A whole lot of hunks in one room. I'm telling you, the place sizzles.
I'm a sucker for Jack Greene's work. I am. Greene doesn't pull punches and gets right to the heat of the story while tossing in a fine dose of heart. The writing flows well and I don't want to put the story down. Cherry Red is no different.
Tom isn't your average bouncer. He works very hard at being the muscle in the gay bar. The story opens with him not even sure he's gay. I liked seeing the struggle in his head. There's man meat all over the place, but he's not affected. It's awkward and sexy at the same time. Then there's Andre. This guy oozes sex. He's a model and knows what he wants. Well, he thinks he does. Like Tom, there's a hint of confusion in him. Strong emotions are all over the place and it was nice to see an erotic story where there's more build up to the sex. Sounds strange? Not really. Its a short story and in many short stories, the characters jump right into bed. The tension and build up in this one makes it a refreshing change.
Now on to that sex. WOW. Hot. Holy cow. Andre is nicely sexy and pouty. Tom is clumsy and Greene writes this with a tenderness that made me feel for Tom. I liked seeing things through Tom's perspective. He comes across less stiff and more human. Both characters are the kinds I could identify with, but Tom more so than Andre because of Tom's hesitation. I finished this story with a smile on my face and ready to read it again and again.
If you like a white hot story with human elements, then this might be the story for you.
